OldBat, I was giggling because of the whole Japanese woodblock print brouhaha from a few weeks back. This paper is very evocative of it. If you missed the thread, you didn't miss much! Coll, Aww, i know what you mean, I actually have that happen with my Dad. It's actually kind of nice, odd as it sounds, to get to "spend time" with him. Thankfully they have always been pleasant dreams and not anything nonsensical. We had wonderful pets growing up, but only recently got a dog when we moved here and got property. We all adore her. I know the math is not in our favor and it's so sad to even think of her being gone, even though it she is still young. My DH, who was always anti-dog, actually told me that the biggest reason is that you are pretty certain going into it, that when you get a pet you will outlive it. I had never thought of that. DH is an uber-softie and loves our dog. Heck, he was apoplectic about losing koi. Lov - Since I am the OP, I will say I am sorry it seemed to strike the wrong chord. Humor can sometimes have a bite, but the intent was to skewer pompous design professionals and not at all to be insensitive to animals or animal lovers, I am sure.

I love wallpaper, and use it often. But I do agree about people who apply multiple layers or paint over it. Doesn't sound like any of you have ever had the challenge we had in this house. I kid you not--I counted carefully--our living room had TWELVE layers of wallpaper, several with pain on them. And we stripped every scrap of it off before doing anything further. One interesting thing I've noticed lately--the houses for sale in the neighboring town (one of the priciest, most 'desireable', most trendy in the country) are mostly showing very, very busy wallpapers lately. Guess it's coming back.

Hi djbretches, I know I'm late to this thread, but in case you're still working on the space...I think they may have been mistaken. This paper is made to order and comes in at ~$85/yard with a 5 yard minimum. I suppose it's possible there are rolls being sold somewhere for $115/roll, but based on him saying "with a 5 roll minimum" I think it was a misunderstanding. Super expensive, but you can also customize the colours in the print for the same price per yard. They do strongly recommend a strike through (a test sample) which will set you back another ~$180 plus freight costs ~$45, but I would guess that if someone has $85 / yard in the budget, the test sample prices aren't a concern. If you contact the company, Galbraith and Paul, they may send you out some samples. I am a designer by trade which they may have detected, however this was not discussed with the rep during my call and they happily sent them out. Some companies specified as open to the trade are less strict than others.

Compare the bids, that is how you will know what is reasonable in your area. Know your budget, if they are too high have a back-up plan. That Nursery is beautiful, but to be honest babies don't really care as long as they have food and love. It probably looks just fine without any remodeling needed. I can't tell you what is reasonable in the North east if I live in the Upper Midwest. Materials vary widely because of the cost to get them across the country, heck even getting them off a boat right now seems hard. Make sure whomever you chose actually can get the materials and the subs to do the work if you are needing it done before the baby arrives. People are booked out, and materials can be delayed by weeks or months. Put something in the contract to cover you if its not done on time, maybe even have a lawyer read it over before you sign anything.
