Nicer than I expected but a bit claustrophobic for me.

I'm a small person and don't need a lot of space, but this place gives me the willies.

It's larger than both my DD’s who have co-ops in the East Village!

That's really interesting how they utilized the space. I'd have to spend most of my time in the back part with the garden and terraces - the rest of it is too claustrophobic for me. I suppose $5 million is the going rate in NYC but for an outsider that seems like an astronomical price for that tiny space.

I know i would never put the murphy bed back up and would spend my days walking over the top of the bed. However, I could live there. Philadelphia had many small Trinity houses that arent much wider, but plenty less expensive.

I actually love it! I would live there in a second if it were not so expensive.

That's a bit misleading, as it's actually an entire townhouse, not an apartment, hence the high price. For that amount of money you could have a much more liveable space in an actual Greenwich Village apartment.

I lived in an apartment in San Francisco that had a Murphy bed, and I did put it up every morning. But I was only 23 at the time.

Didn't Mary Tyler Moore have a sofa bed in her Minneapolis apartment? I never watched her show that much, and so I don't remember.

When I've lived in small places (all in San Francisco), I spent a lot of time away from where I lived, and I prefer SF for that over NYC, but that's just my preference. However, it has been a few years since I have been to SF and even longer since I have been to NYC. I guess I'm not as urban as I used to be. I did go to Philadelphia and Newark a couple of years ago.

I had a tiny apt. with a futon once. I used a fitted sheet over it and a feather bed comforter with a washable cover for bedding unless summer and then just light throw blanket that I could wash easily. Just pulled that up and put it away when I had company.

Not for 5 million, that's ridiculous. Kind of like RV camping in NYC. I lived on a boat for 9 months. Doable but one has to ask, for 5M . . . why?

Interesting and well done for what it is but I have a long list of places I'd prefer to put 5 million!!

Apropos to what Lars said, if you are out and about for work a lot, and basically entertain by meeting friends at various places, I can understand the appeal, but not the 5M price tag. Seems like if you lived like that you would not have 5M to spare. For one of the larger adjacent brownstones I can totally see that . . .

I don’t mind small spaces, I’ve been enamored lately looking at ”tiny houses” accounts on IG. And I had a very small studio apartment when I was 20.

With this one, it’s the narrow footprint. That’s what would make me feel hemmed in — like I was living in a hallway.

I stopped because I got tired of hearing "actually" in every sentence. That was just too annoying, although I could have muted the sound.

Lars, I remember MTM’s sofabed. There was an episode where Mr. Grant came to visit and stayed way too long and she couldnt go to bed because he was on the sofa. I bet I’d never fold up the sofabed, either, or only when there was company.
