Tile placement in small bathroom
Comments (1)The room will usually fool the eye into taking on the aspect of the building material. So if you use the tile vertically, yes, it could make the room look "taller". Ceiling colors versus wall colors can do the same. If you had a ceiling that was darker than the wall color, the darker color can attract attention, and visually make the ceiling appear to be lower than it is. A lighter colored ceiling can make the ceiling appear higher. Same with floor. Floor tile in a linear or stacked pattern will pull the eye from one wall to the opposite wall, the shortest distance. Tile on a diagonal can pull the eye on a diagonal, the longer dimension. That can make the room to appear more expansive. Comments (9)They have some cute 16 to 18 inch vanities online that give at least some storage. This is under $600 so a bit pricy http://www.bathvanityexperts.com/avanity-kent-vs18-cf-18-inch-coffee-transitional-single-bathroom-vanity.html?dfw_tracker=9185-3425&gclid=Cj0KEQjwofHHBRDS0Pnhpef89ucBEiQASEp6LIhlOKd-xRSAUHHngn6lTzsstfRtgdHCFzlvK2yiyGIaAs9N8P8HAQ...See MoreShow me your small, full bathrooms (with toilet by the door?)
Comments (42)thank you, Karenseb! Lol, it's crazy what we go through to gain just a few spare inches in our bathrooms! Yes, I think I will take your and Nancyinmich's advice, and stick with the layout I have currently, by using the current vanity area as shelving/storage cabinet. And maybe change doorway opening. I'll add a single sink with side drawers on the opposite wall. Toilet will stay put, I'll look at that round Toto Drake. I think the widest vanity that I could put in there is 64"? The wall is 94" and I need 15 inches on either side of the wall and vanity. (measured from the center of the toilet - and for sake of planning I'll base this on measurements of the Toto Drake which is just shy of 20" wide)....See MoreRemodeling small bathroom- storage around toilet?
Comments (3)Not a trend-but I found it very helpful to buy and install the longest "closet" I could find to fit in between studs. Wayfair sells one unfinished (I mean plain wood, no stain), and then we asked to paint it the wall color only in semi-gloss). It dramatically increased storage wihout being in anybody's face. But something like towels wouldn't fit in there..it's good for spare shampoos, medicines, whatnot. Towels are on the hooks -we have a shelf with hooks, left from previous owners, it's more vintage-y than something on trend, but I decided to re use it. It's across the toilet, next to the door ..one can't see it unless one is inside. spare towels are in the hallway closet. Very small space-a cabinet over the toilet. I pick these second hand because that's what I like..but that depends on your and house's aesthetic of course. One can also hunt a mirror with a shelf. To increase storafe a bit (again, not for towels, obviously) Not easy to find a good one but possible. They come in different designs-can be contemporary looking or can be more ornate......See MoreLH CO/FL
