Upstairs master with arch

Wood blinds are a great choice. They can be raised or lowered, and the slats can be angled to allow as much light in as you like. I'd match them to your trim and mount them outside the frame to avoid light strike on the sides.

The arch window is another story. These windows are difficult to treat if you want to stay within the shape of the arch--the treatment will need to be custom made. Or you can cover it with the same treatment as the bottom part, and mount it above the top. We've had a couple of these type of windows in the past, and found the best option is to replace them with rectangular transoms.

Thank you Diana. The arch is a problem. I had not thought about replacing the window altogether that might be the best long term solution. Wood blinds are a great idea. I don't love the trim color but was told to restrain would be a massive project since it's everywhere. So we are a it stuck. Thanks again. Really appreciate it.

You're welcome, Crystal. Regarding the trim, you don't have to re-stain it, have you considered painting it?

Yes I have. But that would be a phase 2 for home decor. I'd like to repaint the entire inside because a very cheap white flat paint was used and it shows every mark and is impossible to clean. It also peels off very easily. I suspect the walls were not cleaned prior to painting when the owner was getting ready to sell. So once we repaint we can do the trim but it's intimidating to think of colors thr wood is all around and it even matches the kitchen cabinets. We were told by one contractor it would be very hard to paint as well. I guess due to the stain? I'm unsure about that. I'll replace rugs at same time and add hardwood. White rugs! Is a huge design error if we picked a different wood color for blinds? The kids room has 3 windows see below. We won't cover the window wall but just showing you wood trim. For that I think we will do a clear window covering because the sun fries our furniture and anyone sitting in there midday.

Personally I wouldn't get blinds in a different wood color than the trim. I don't think it would look good. You need to balance your need (and cost) for covering the windows as they are now with the cost of changing them in the future.
