Remodeling Flooring Design Dilemma

Which flooring goes best with wooden plank ceiling?

Just bought a home in Sedona and it has wood planks on the ceiling (kind of a slight yellow pine color). I can't decide which flooring and color of flooring would work best. Would like to keep the ceiling as is if possible and not too dated. There are other changes we will be making but knowing the flooring would help tremendously. We love a modern, clean look. Thanks for any advice or thoughts on this.

I think to get a better idea, we need a picture of the view from the windows... Just kidding -- gorgeous house, amazing view!

We have 1940 wood floors throughout most of our 1st floor, but in the entry we used 12"x12" gray/green slate, laying it in a diamond pattern so that the grout lines are not parallel to the run of the wood floor planks. It works well as a more durable floor in the entry, and the transition to stained wood is visually very smooth.

[Note: The numbering used in this comment refer to the original post, as Hillcrest and Elgin Oak have swapped positions in the subsequent post of den photos.] #1 Elgin Oak has my vote, and here's why: I'm not a fan of the board stripes of #4, English Breakfast. (You want attention to be drawn out the windows to your lake view -- not to your floor's stripes.) #3 Fawn has a more uniform coloration than #4, but is a pinky brown, a fact which is accentuated next to the gray. #2 Hillcrest looks pinky brown next to the gray, too, wheras the gray just makes #1 Elgin Oak more golden. #1 Elgin Oak includes the Maple cabinetry's golden yellow in its coloration, and is the brightest option (if you are trying to keep the space light & bright). A previous poster asked about going darker with the flooring, and you may want to try that before making a selection. (Unless you already know you want a light floor.)

I'm looking at my receipt and the edging it so complicated! My island had to be custom and it says Post Form Edges Group B/Double Round. It also says Ideal Edge underneath! I just didn't want that line around the edge and that was my priority! This receipt stinks. Sorry I don't have more info. for you.

I'd free myself . Paint the ceiling trim color, and before I made any flooring changes? Consider the kitchen, please. Which we can not see.

I agree the wood ceiling is driving all the choices but I need a bit more info from you. I have no idea about the kitchen since we do not see it but before choosing new floors it needs to considered. I assume or I guess hope that carpet is going. I really dislike tile floors except in bathrooms they are hard on feet, legs backs and as we age even worse.

Hi. I added a pic of the kitchen. we would like to keep cabinets if possible (they are fairly new) but are not against refacing and/or painting.

The ceilings are beautiful. I would not paint them. I am not fond of tile floors, but, in your case, they really do look good with the ceiling, and go well in the kitchen too. Do they run under that carpet too?
