This week is not off to a good start!
Comments (7)I had a similar problem with my kitchen sink a while ago. Started with a grease clog, I tried a plunger, baking soda and vinegar, and a chemical declogger. Nothing worked. I called my plumber. I think a house call is $100 minimum. He said the baking soda was jammed in the pipe. He had to cut a hole in the floor to get to it. Looks terrible, and I think the bill was around $200. Several months later the S-trap pipe underneath started to leak and that was another $300 or so. My guy is so expensive, but so good, and he always comes within hours of my phone call....See Moreclogged drain mystery
Comments (3)Did you run water with the drain snake? What did you pull from the drain line when you removed the snake? I am not a professional plumber, but do know how to snake a drain line. Every time I've done it right a big clog of debris comes up with the snake. Even while running the water hose down the clean out, the snake will pull out the clog. Running the water hose ensures the drain line has been opened properly, before you go through the labor of putting everything back together! Upstairs plumbing is rarely affected by blockages on a lower level....See MoreHELP: Sink with garbage disposal is clogged & dishwasher leaks
Comments (6)Thanks, everyone. I definitely should have known better than to put that food in the garbage disposal. I learned an expensive lesson. Although I didn't put all those food items in at one time, it was still a mistake to put them in there. The disposal is over 14 years old. As for the dishwasher, it was leaking while in use a year prior to the recent sink clog, so the clog has nothing to do with the leak in the dishwasher. The dishwasher doesn't leak while not in use. I'd be happy to wash the dishes by hand if it wasn't for the pain/injury in my foot. Things are old in this house, and they're breaking down. The kitchen faucet has had issues and has been leaking since 2007 (it's old), yet the landlord refused to have it fixed when a plumber was here for a kitchen pipe. I had even obtained a replacement faucet & replacement parts to help out, but he still refused to agree to make repairs. When I moved in, I was told that the kitchen would be remodeled, so everything would be fixed; that never happened. I can't wait to move out. If I was a regular tenant--not related to this family member--I'm sure things would have been fixed....See MoreStandpipe for Kitchen sinks clogged with grit
