IMO poor choice for backspalsh and if you think a 3" counter materila will help think again. IMO just use the counter material and if you must have bedboard somewhere use it somehwere else

I appreciate it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but we quite like it :)

The new island will be cream with brown glaze, beadboard sides, and a false door front with a white farmhouse sink and oil rubbed bronze hardware. A bit like the attached inspiration photo, but solid white counters not marbled.

Our perimeter cabinets are a dark brown stained maple (the exact style and color in the attached photo). Our walls are white. We have stained glass accents.

We want to lighten up the kitchen and keep the traditional/transitional quaint look. It’s a small space though and I think tile, even simple white squares, will be too busy. We did discuss using the white countertop material as a solid backsplash up the wall but thought it would look a bit too modern.

We’ll use either a vinyl or wood bead board with washable semi-gloss paint so I’m not too worried about clean up. Mostly I though the lip might help with any large liquid spills.

I had breadboard as a temporary (7 years, ha) backsplash, and the horizontal solid wood "lip"...painted in same color...made the cleaning much easier.

Wood panel bead board painted in a satin finish. Used a small trim piece on bottom. Has held up very well over 8 plus years. We are not messy cooks but it wipes up easily.

Apparently, we fling water everywhere. I would do the 3-4" backsplash.

I love beadboard backsplash :) . I'd probably do a 3-4" solid backsplash with the beadboard above if I had the option. I don't get too worried about them not being "in" but that's me! I use a satin finish paint (or whatever "satin" is in your favored brand). Washes up just fine.
