Wall paint color for kitchen with dark cabinets- advice needed
Comments (9)In order to brighten things up, look at the off whites. They look like colors on the little sample cards, but when painted on the wall, often look more like a pale color than a white. I'd go all the way up to the lightest colors. I really don't see how you can go wrong, your choices so far are so neutral. I think you could go warmer, or cooler, and it would make sense. In order to brighten up the space, I would do these things: -think about shiny, beefy drawer pulls/knobs, like polished nickel -think about maybe glass subway tile (or other pattern), or even a metallic tile. Something that reflects light. -make sure your lighting is excellent in every regard: overhead, undercabinet, pendant work lights. That will really help....See MoreAdvice on kitchen cabinet and wall paint colors? Sanding a must?
Comments (15)I would leave the cabinets alone. That dark-wood look you want is about 5 years gone already. I also don't know how you'll be able to tackle the amount of work involved with painting cabinets when you don't have the time to clear your clutter. Your clutter says to me you don't have any spare time. Also, I don't advise the "black stainless" appliance finish if that's what you meant by "dark stainless steel". It's just low-cost painted-on black and will scratch. I feel like each day this forum gets a dozen posts saying people are buying the black stainless - the manufacturers must be pushing it very hard for that much of an avalanche of buyers for that finish. Just get regular stainless appliances; it'll look better and you'll be better off in the long run. New lighting, de-cluttering, stainless appliances, and removing tchotchkes from on top of the cabinets will do a lot toward making your kitchen look more current and fresh....See MoreNeed advice and help with kitchen cabinet paint colors and hardware
Comments (28)You could do it w/a jigsaw. (borrow or rent one if you don't have one) These are some DIY links that will walk you through it. Grab a friend w/a bit more know-how if you don't think you can manage. (or, you can always pay a pro to do it. ) DIY all you have to do is go to a glass shop and give them the measurements of the cut piece you'll need. try seeded glass. then you silicone the glass on the back and hold in place w/glass clips. https://www.familyhandyman.com/project/convert-wood-cabinet-doors-to-glass/ a few more how-to's https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/how-to-add-glass-to-cabinet-doors/ https://providenthomedesign.com/2014/03/03/diy-glass-cabinet-door/ This one is very detailed: https://simplyrooms.wordpress.com/2012/09/23/project-converting-cabinet-doors-to-glass/ you may need some more tools for this since you are keeping the real wood. you'll have to finish off the edges after cutting. not difficult, just another step. for a few hundrend, you could prob get a cabinet guy to do it all for you....See MoreAdvice: Wall Paint Colour & Chantilly Lace Cabinets
Comments (2)CL does not look cold and green here in FL! I have CL on all my cabinets and built-ins. I used BM White Dove for all my walls. I had also considered SW Snowbound, but most of my furniture and art is warm toned and looked best with the warmer BM White Dove. You need to test in your space. Trim: BM Chantilly Lace Color on left: BM Winds Breath Color on right: BM White Dove...See Moreherbflavor
