30' Gas Range, Should I go Wolf or Viking
Comments (0)After some great suggestions found on this board I am in the process of making a final decision regarding a 30" gas range. I was originally going to go with a Miele single oven and electric or induction cooktop but I like the professional look of the gas ranges too much. With that being said I was looking at either a 30" Wolf or Viking range. Please share any experiences you have with either one of these ranges or any other ranges you think I should be considering. For the owners of either of the above ranges, I've read alot of things on this board and was wondering if I would have a problem with either one of these....See MoreViking, Wolf or DCS 30' dual fuel range: which to get?
Comments (33)I now have delivery and installation of my DCS "30 AG range AND the DCS "30 convection oven (the new one with knobs). Love, Love, Love them both! DH is over the moon as well. Have not really had a chance to cook with either much as we're still fitting the granite (blue pearl) countertops over the (Kohler) kitchen farm sink so plumbing and fixtures are not complete and I'm still camping out. But so far both of these are knock-out appliances! I'm blown away with what the convection oven can do (in terms of cooking methods) and anticipate bringing my culinary skills to a whole new level now that I have all kinds of precision at my fingertips. I'm beyond happy!...See More36" American Range All Gas vs 36" Wolf All Gas Range
Comments (6)In February we were making a decision about the AG ranges and were looking at American, Bluestar and Wolf. We did tons of research and looked and looked. At that time I was also thinking I wanted a color range rather than stainless, so that narrowed it down to Bluestar and American. We decided the American was a better value than the Bluestar and were ready to order until we did a final measurement and discovered that the extra depth of the Performer would not work in our particular configuration because a drawer on an adjacent wall wouldn't open. So, much as we would have liked it, that eliminated that possibility. Then, we found an AG Wolf floor model on clearance (one of the old models with the open burner) and bought that. I like it, but personally I wouldn't want the burners on the new model Wolf. And, there have been a couple times (maybe only 3 or 4) when I thought to myself I would have liked to have one of the more powerful burners from the Performer. In your shoes, I'd save the money and get the Performer. This doesn't mean I don't like the Wolf; it just means that I don't think it is worth the extra money now, especially considering the fact it has sealed burners....See Moreviking & wolf gas range tops - backguard or not?
Comments (4)This is what Wolf says: The 10 1/2" (267) riser is required for all gas rangetops in non-island applications installed against a combustible surface. You don't need the riser if the wall surface behind your stove is non-combustible, i.e., something like drywall & tile backsplash. If you're installing the stove next to a log wall, a wood paneled wall, etc., you would have a combustible surface and would need the riser or some other form of heat shield.
