I have a setup like this. it's very unlikely you will find a chair that comes with glides out of the box. what you need to do is order the exact chair you want, and buy replacement "chair glides" (such as these). they don't cost very much.

you will need to determine what the diameter of the "stem" is (the part that clicks into the chair base). most office chairs have a standard size (like, my herman miller wheels also fit the cheap chair I bought on amazon), but some brands -- like Ikea -- have a slightly different size. when in doubt, read the reviews, order a couple sizes, and return what you don't need.

for some chairs, it's easy to pop the wheels out. but for others, it takes some elbow grease and patience. use a large flat head screwdriver to pry. wrap the head in tape or otherwise you might slip and scratch something.

oh also, personally I thought the tall plastic glides above were kind of ugly, so I went for these instead, and added felt pads to the bottom. I just prefer the way they look. these are shorter than wheels or bell glides though. so if you need your chair to be extended to it's full height, these might make it too short.

Hi - something smaller somewhat like the picture below. Not the color but more the style. Meaning no wheels Need to be able to use as a work chair with back support but also can use as an extra chair for seating.

Space is limited. Ive seen stuff out there but would love a reccommendations so I dont need to test it out.

Unless you work super short hours, I would not recommend any kind of dining room chair. I find that I sit too low and my hips tilt slightly back, a very bad posture if you're working at a computer. I can sit and read or play board games at a dining table for hours, but being at a computer is a different kind of posture. At the very least, you need something with height adjustability. Bonus if you can also tilt the seat pan a little forward.

Yes, this is good advice. But sometimes it's not as simple as that. In my experience, I've had to sit in a chair for hours / days before I can know for sure if it's right. I had to reject a Herman Miller Aeron chair due to this. Thankfully my husband loves it. It was my birthday present. Oh well, at least I get to still look at it. :(

You could use a comfy formal dining chair as an office chair, just add a cushion if you need to alter height add more comfort.
