Help choosing the tile "color" for 17' fireplace "wall".
I have a great room with 15' - 17' walls. The walls are painted "off-white with a pink beige nuance" aka Solid Opal by Behr. I love the color and it is a very subtle pink.
I'm tiling the fireplace wall from floor to ceiling and don't know what "shade" / "tone" / colorish tile to use. Gray might go purple, blue white is cold, yellow beige might grab the yellow in the "blonde ale" floor and then my lovely pink walls might turn peach.
The west wall (left of fireplace) is almost all window, and there are green trees outside the windows.
The ceiling is white with a little pink.
I love the look of marble, but think the stripes in the floor will look weird with veined marble.

3 years agoWhat direction are you going style-wise in this room? Is the entire fireplace column to be tiled or below a mantle? Do you want the fireplace to be quiet or a showstopper? Are you interested in pulling out more pink or keeping it contained to the walls? What material - stone tiles, stone veneer, brick, porcelain tile, ceramic, etc.?
In a quick look at Tilebar, I saw a couple options that could work. The terrazzo-look porcelain tiles are lovely. I especially like the first one below as the caramel pieces echo your lovely golden floors. It's going to be key to view samples next to your wall color to ensure the undertones don't clash. And you do need to consider the warmth of your floors.

That was really helpful and took your tip and tried this on the BM site as well! I am agreeing with you all that the lighter neutral color would work best. Here are the colors I've narrowed it down to that look good with BM Gray Mirage: BM 2146-60 November Rain BM HC-80 Bleeker Beige BM HC-173 Edgecomb Gray SW 7738 Cargo Pants (will need to compare the paint chip to BM Gray Mirage to be sure but looks good from what I can tell) If you have any thoughts on these 3 colors (or any others), I would love to hear them since I am absolutely horrible at picking out colors and have made some costly and timely mistakes in the past. Comments (6)It's your choice, but I don't care for the linear lines of the Latitude tile because of the linear lines in your vanity. Your other choice, Facade, goes better in my opinion. I even like the other two colors that it comes in, the grey and the taupe. PRO3 years agoConsider Limewash Paint on the drywall. You could use the same color as the walls and get a completely different effect.
It's applied with a large stiff brush using overlapping strokes and you end up with this.

Thank you! My direction is forward. My rule has been white and no frills: slab cabinet and vanity doors, bathroom counter is "blizzard”, kitchen counter is "organic white", baseboards are straight: no groves or bumps, all fixtures - from hinges & door knobs to faucets and cabinet handles - are polished chrome.
Basically it's 1000 square feet of some shade of white. The only exceptions are the floor, the sea glass green tile in the shower and a dark brown/black spiral staircase.
The entire fireplace column is going to be stone or tile that looks like stone. (Is it still stone if it’s smooth?)
Pink contained to walls - I don't want to be the crazy pink lady.
The photos are of my dream fireplace, but my floor is much more striped than I thought it would be and I'm scared of "striped" fireplace and striped floor.
I also like the tilebar taupe, but despite knowing red, green and blue percentages, the hue is 36 degrees, the lightness, saturation and wavelength I have no idea what the undertone of the wall color is.
Sorry for rambling.
If I had to ask just one question it would be what shade / color / undertone of stone/tile will keep the pink contained to the walls and not look peach with the floor?
Oh my gosh, this stone or tile or whatever it is fire place looks like dessert to me! (but no television - I think they're high in carbs.)
