Shampooing your lawn

@dchall_san_antonio recommended using baby shampoo as a surfactant, and after some research I'm finding that they key is to find a gentle sodium lauryl (laureth?) sulfate (SLS).

The problem I'm having is that it appears that the new buzz phrase is "no sulfate!" I've tried Walgreens, Big Lots, and the Dollar Tree, and all baby shampoos I'm finding say that they're sulfate free. Which I guess defeats the purpose here.

Can you guys and gals recommend a specific baby shampoo that I should use for this? Or an alternative?

My plan was to hose down the heavily compacted parts of my lawn with SLS, then spread a compost / manure mix on top of it, then sow grass seed on top of the compost. I figure that would loosen the soil up better and let the compost nutrients sink in better, and the grass would root in the compost and by next year it could more easily grow downward into the older soil.
