First, are you going for a more traditional look or a more modern one? That will help narrow the choices.

If traditional, the Windsor-style stool (top left) would be great. You could even have tie-on chair pads made for them, too.

If more modern/contemporary, I'd find one with a back which will make it more comfortable to sit in. I don't think either of the pedestal options will work with your materials. How about getting a Wegner Wishbone style counter stool? This one is white, but they come in natural oak, too.

I think our style is more coastal casual. I want comfortable for sure. That Wishboone looks very nice but not comfy enough for me.

Look up upholstered counter stools in the shopping section of this site. That should give you a good starting point.

Comfortable and wipeable sounds like vinyl upholstered to me.

And i like vinyl upholstered chairs!

The pedestal base is not going to be easy to move but if it's a swivel, you won't have to move it to get on or off. I think all of the others will be equally easy to move and all look stable.

You saved ideabook says 'beach' - can these leather stools beach, if continued with natural material - rope, with large plants, large coffee table with chunky textures, etc.. Depends on your entire plan.

I read in a few threads that adding cushions are rough because they slide around too much when you get off the stool.

Mine have fabric ties, which works for us. If you like the type of stools, also add a round gripper [as are sold with area rugs].

I like these because the base seems like it would make it easy to just tilt and roll them away from the counter for cleaning under them. They come in lots of colors and you could top them with a custom cushion if you wanted. If you're decorating cookies, etc., you probably won't be leaning back much, so a back wouldn't be necessary. If you have kids, avoid swivels; they'll be a toy and your cabinets will be damaged by swirling feet!

I have 5 "sled base" stools around my island. They are so safe (4 kids), and extremely sturdy. For added comfort I bought leather pads...vinyl breaks down in a few years max, these just get better. Easy to wipe down, comfortable for hours.

I just bought new counter stools -- what a PAIN! So many measurements to take into account (seat height, width, back height), reviews to read, customer photos to review, I must have looked at 1,000+ stools and it took months to decide.

This is what we went with (sharing link even though I'm not sure it goes with your kitchen), i love them, not sure how easy they are to clean, but they came assembled, were on sale & are very comfortable. C&B's Delta stoolsare also affordable & look nice.

Check out this company https://www.amisco.com/en_us/. I purchased swivel stools and selected the seat fabric and frame color. The product is well made. Below is a picture of the stool with a back and one without back which is useful when I working at the island. Fabric is a leather looking vinyl that is easy to keep clean. I like the swivel for easy entry and exit of the stool. I also prefer the lower back so when standing at the island I don’t have to remove the stools. Good luck in your search.
