Nursery safe wood for accent wall?

Hello! I'd like to create a board and batten look accent wall in our baby's nursery but am worried about using harmful wood or products. Most tutorials include using some kind of board and furring strips. Any help with choosing the best/safest wood options for this would be so appreciated!

Wood is actually safe straight from a tree! Hence, wood cutting boards. Your only issue is do not use reclaimed or exterior wood products as you cannot confirm treatments. Just find the pieces you want and create a beautiful baby’s room.

Thanks for the help. I see things like PureBond plywood and it says formaldehyde free so I thought I needed to search in that category? Was thinking plywood would be the best route for the board part? We have textured walls so I would need something there. Sorry I am a complete novice in this stuff

How about something like RH's Silver Sage. That one might be too much and compete but there's a lighter one in the group, Pale Silver. A light, airy, soft color like that would be beautiful, I think. Restful, fresh and happy with the plums in your cute fabrics and lamp. Here's an example of SS. Thanks for the prompt feedback 'forboystoo'. After reading that first article, I'm much less inclined to bring in pallet wood into my home, regardless of whether it has been heat treated. It's true - you don't know where the pallets have been. And when you take into account the amount of time necessary to collect enough pallets to cover a wall, dismantle all those pallets, clean/sand all the individual boards down - the EverTrue option is a no-brainer! Just wanted to follow up to thank everyone for your input and to show you the accent wall I decided to do in SW Naval. Im going to be replacing the blinds with white faux wood ones and am pretty sure Im going to look for a counter depth refrigerator. Im also looking into having the cabinets painted white sincethey are dingy. A silly question maybe, however, I would like input....Should i keep the smaller stainless steel microwave or get one closer in size to my old white one shown in the pics (just look at sizes of each micro and ignore color). Something tells me the sizing/proportion is off with the small stainless one and Im thinking i might exchange it for a bigger one.

@noelds - beautiful space! and love Bluey on the TV. that that’s a big hit in our house, too. What if you do a modern wallpaper, neutral tones, that would complement the horizontal movement of the shiplap? Something like a grassweave that would add texture but not much color? MDF would be the best option, bar none. It is smoother, paints better, and is the standard for use in the furniture and cabinet making industry. It’s what all the Wayfair or Ikea furniture in that room is made from already.
