looking for Linen sheets someone here reccomended
Comments (20)I have two sets of linen sheets. Actually I just have one set and one top sheet. I never use them any more. I do have the Eileen Fisher sheets from GH, which are nice but I am just not willing to iron my sheets and they are SO wrinkly coming out of the wash. And I'm finding that I just don't love the feel of linen sheets. The fitted sheet especially -- I have an extra-deep mattress plus a pillow top, and the EF fitted sheet is still a bit big, and as you sleep on it, the linen stretches a bit and the fitted sheet gets baggy. Then it feels like you're just sleeping on a loose sheet! Very weird. The other sheet I have is from Restoration Hardware, which seems slightly less wrinkly, probably because it weighs 150 pounds! The one sheet is ridiculously heavy. So that's my (limited) review of linen sheets. I had slept in a fabulous hotel bed that had linen sheets, and I thought I'd love them and that they'd fit well with my slightly bohemian bedding assortment, but I am not a big fan anymore. And yes, obviously sheets are all about personal preference....See MoreLinen experts - why are my Pottery Barn sheets so scratchy?
Comments (33)Agree! I grew up with Wamsutta 300 TC percale sheets and they were great! I continued to buy them through my young adulthood and then the brand disappeared from department store shelves. The brand ended up at Bed Bath and Beyond and are no where near the quality they used to be. Then I discovered Ralph Lauren (RL) sheets who for many years offered 300 TC sheets which were great, but now I can't find those. I heard he moved his bedding operations from wherever they were before to India and the quality went down. I'm hanging onto my current batch of 300 TC Italian fabric RL sheets which I bought at Macy's for a reasonable price and which are almost 9 years old. I recently bought Matouk Sierra sheets and was disappointed mostly because the bottom fitted sheet has too much slack in it. They are pretty wrinkled too. BTW, the Matouk sheets don't come close to the smooth crisp feeling of the old Wamsutta or RL sheets. What has happened to the sheet industry? Are countries not growing enough cotton anymore? Is there a shortage of textile manufacturers?...See MoreWhere to get a linen bed sheet set
Comments (15)I only have RL -- they were the first I learned of and the only ones that were getting consistently great reviews as I checked out others. The others I have seen have all been lighter weight than RL, so it's interesting that Linoto is heavier. I might like to get a set in a color at some point, but I really don't need anything right now. I have ordered linen fabric (making pjs for DH because he sleeps hot and some tea towels for my sister to match her Fiestaware colors, a throw -- I'm loving linen these days) and recognized some of the fabrics in items sold on Etsy. Because I recognize the source, I know many of those things will have seams, but they generally don't tell you that. Be sure to check so you know what you are getting. Also notice where the seller is located. A lot of the linen comes from overseas. I've ordered items from overseas and not had any bad experiences, but I can't say that is always the case. And it certainly won't be Prime 2 day shipping or RL's fast shipping and 2-3 day priority mail (we get so spoiled)....See MoreCrate & Barrel has linen sheets on sale
Comments (33)Springmaid also made 100% cotton percale USA made. Yes they needed ironed. I do not like cotton/poly blends. They may not need ironed but they don't feel the same as the old USA made cotton sheets. Its my experience that the cotton poly blend sheets in todays market can be found on the cheap everywhere and frankly I wouldn't want them for any price. They feel like the synthetic they are made of, they hold soil and odors, and they pill. Was yesteryears like this? I've always used all cotton, but I iron mine and have no problem ironing. I would be the last to complain about cotton wrinkling LOL. Of course it wrinkles. This is why grandma and mom took them off the line and ironed them....See Morejulie krawchuk
