Here's my lil Krimson Queen! The pink edges don't come thru in the photos. Either of you want some of this one. I am sure it's pretty common. It seems so much happier out under the pool screen than in my bedroom window. I got this 1/3 this size a couple yrs ago from Lindaleaf. BTW Helen, You want some cuttings of that coral crown behind the Krimson Queen? It's getting kind of tall and I might as well start a few cuttings of it for Ricky's.

Lynn, Which variegated kerrii do you have? I have the one that's SUPPOSED to have the cream on the inside, yet you have to practically use a magnifying glass to see the difference between the outside and inside leaf color! But this doesn't really answser your question... Variegated plants are mutations of the standard green form. Often times, you'll get a "throwback" or normal leaf or even an offshoot of all normal growth. Some people remove the normal (solid green) growth in hopes that the next growth will be variegated. I would just let it do what it's going to do and if you end up with more than you want, you can always remove a whole stem and start a new plant. In other words, I'd wait and see what happens... H. carnosa is one of the cool growing Hoyas, so I think if temperature was the issue, you'd notice it in some of your intermediate and temperate Hoyas first. I have a couple carnosas right by the outside door I always use and the frosty winter drafts never bothered them. KQ was not one of those, but it was actually leaning its leaves up against the glass of the cold window it was in, and it grew vigorously. Carnosa is also very tolerant of low light conditions. It will darken up and grow more slowly, but otherwise keep plodding along. Based on my own experiences, I am inclined to think it may be a water issue. Some of my more succulent Hoyas will take a turn for the worse in the winter, even if I'm following my usual watering rules of thumb. I think because it just takes them longer for soil to dry in the winter they don't get the full drying out they crave. Usually they will perk up if I start giving them some serious intervals between watering. I'm not sure where your posted photo is. Am I being stupid?
