smelly shoes and sneakers
Comments (9)It's hard to throw away shoes that have plenty of mileage left on them... SO, if you or any friends must have a house tented/fumigated for termites, be sure to put all your smelly shoes, ski boots, etc. in said house, as the Vikane gas kills EVERYTHING, not just termites. Heck, if you're desperate, track down a tenting company that's setting up a job, slip the guy $20 to put a box of your smellies under the tent, out of the way, and make sure he retrieves them before the owners are allowed back in, lol. OTOH, while a lot of shoes might not be MACHINE washable, if they are daily surviving being soaked in SWEAT, they can certainly survive a hand soaking in water with light detergent and a HEAVY DOSE OF BORAX, aka 20-Mule Team, found in the laundry aisle. Borax really neutralizes biological odors. Let soak for a couple hours, at least. Re-oil leather parts with mink oil, saddle soap, etc....See MoreDifferences between Traffic and Street Shoe?
Comments (3)Hmmm. Street Shoe is cheaper per gallon and covers more per gallon too, but I am still drawn to the Bona for some reason. I have read anecdotally that Traffic is harder/stronger. And I am a bit leery of using StreetShoe over oil based stains because it says they need 48-72 hours of dry time followed by 2 coats of sealer before topcoating. Just based on literature put out by the manufactures, Bona's system seems like it will take less time with less steps and seems more compatible/forgiving with oil based stains. Just to help out anyone else looking for info in the future, I have found number comparisons between gloss levels of the various products. Gloss Level (@ 60° on Wood) Bona Traffic: 15-20 for Commercial Satin 40-45 for Commercial Semi-Gloss Bona Naturale: 4-6 for Commercial Matte Basic StreetShoe XL: Gloss: >80 units Semi-Gloss: 45-55 units Satin: 25-35 units Super Matte: 10-15 units So even Basic's Super Matte is twice as glossy as Naturale. Coverage per gallon: Bona Kemi Traffic and Naturale: 350-400 square feet StreetShoe XL: 500-700 square feet VOC Content: Bona Traffic: Bona Naturale: StreetShoe XL: All seem to have very comparable dry times and are 100% cured after one week. Hopefully this information all in one place will halp someone with some of the questions I had....See MoreGlass panes in door
Comments (2)Here you go. The upper pane is still in place and you can see the shoe molding. It's the same on the other side. Shoe molding - glass - shoe molding. The glass in the lower window is out. I've dealt with the rot and am about to sand it smooth where I patched with Wood Epox. The opening is approx 1 and 3/4 inches deep. Is glazing compound the same as glazing putty? I've worked a lot with glazing putty on typical framed windows. But in this case, the shoe molding is flat against the glass. The shoe molding pieces will sit in the opening like this with the glass between them. Corners mitered, of course....See MoreShoe suggestion for mid-60s female - help please!
Comments (47)I was visualizing a style very similar to what terezosa posted. It's current, popular and also versatile. I have a pair that's somewhat similar, but I think it's been discontinued. I would stay away from pointy toed shoes as those can be painful for someone with corns or bunions, as well as less likely to fit properly. (FWIW, my family was in shoe manufacturing, and I learned a lot about shoes.) IMO, it would be nice to get something that can be worn with dresses or skirts as well as pants & shorts. https://www.skechers.com/en-us/style/16513/skechers-on-the-go-bliss-empress/bbk https://www.skechers.com/en-us/style/100026/be-lux-daylights/bbk I do like Clarks - they have some great comfort styles of good quality....See More3katz4me
