Black Backplash or White or other color?

Hi!

I recently purchased a home and replaced the countertops. Struggling finding the right color and shape of backplash tile. Sorry for the mess in the kitchen. The walls will be painter Ultra Súper White and I have dark wood floors. Any help is appreciated thanks so much!!

White backsplash, no fancy shapes (you already have a lot going on with the cab doors) and ditch the side splashes.

Pick out one of the tones in the counter -- doesn't have to be dark, just needs to coordinate. Your counter is busy, so I'd keep the splash very simple and go with a subway. First things first -- replace the undercabinet lights that are strongly yellow, they're casting a weird amber glow on everything. (I have 3000K, and they're bright white but not harsh)

I have the Subway Ceramics Avalon / Minas with a medium gray grout. And a Shaw's white sink, if anyone is considering that, by the way. (My contractor could have ordered it directly, but at his request, I went through a tile store, and by the time everyone had put their sugar onto it, it was OBSCENELY expensive.) I'm not an installation expert, but at least with the Subway Ceramics, the installers use little plastic spacers between the tiles (I think some others have their own spacers?) when they put them up, they don't do it freehand, so how much grout you get is a function of 1) the limits set by the curvature of the tile and 2) what size spacers they use. So you might be willing to go a little darker with a smaller grout line, or with a handmade tile that refuses to go close together, you might want to stay light. The traditional color is close to concrete. But most modern people don't seem to like that, so do what pleases you!

Black & White (or Cream) Bedding, Other Than Toile

I just showed the Wal-Mart bedding to my friend and she says it is exactly like the comforter set her daughter has. Isn't it beautiful? Actually, I can't tell a lot of difference between this and some of the more expensive bedding. The effect is the same. I must run out right now but when I come back to the forum in the morning, hopefully, we'll have other black and white bedrooms to view. Thanks, everyone!!

Your friends kitchen, as Errant-gw said, is very pleasing and welcoming. I too fretted when we remodeled our entire kitchen in 2013 whether I should go with the trend to update my range and DW to stainless, while keeping my white 5 year old Kenmore bottom refrigerator (because it works great!). My traditional style cabinets are painted a white color very similar to SW Alabaster. A nice off white, with very, very slight creaminess. My counters are Pental Quartz "Tobacco", my backspash matte Daltile subway tiles in Arctic White with Alabaster grout, and my floor is white oak stained a medium brown honey color. In my appliance search, I happened upon a great deal on a new GE Profile Dual Fuel range in white at a closeout store for a fabulous not-to-pass up price and that convinced me to stay with all white appliances. I don't regret it for a minute! My kitchen faces north and on gloomy rainy days the kitchen stays nice and bright. Everything complements each other very well. Everyone who has seen my kitchen loves it. I live in a traditional 1920's bungalow. It all fits the age and style of the house perfectly.

Tan is my winner for You. Being contained partly in brick, on side walls, high entry with doors and under roof, it simply minimizes the overall color elements. However, being so well harmonized, the building can take a massive look with serious impact, but maybe a boring unified result. For me black would broke the unified effect, being a contrast to the brick, but I respect you don 't like it, and futhermore it would be not consistant to your high entry with doors and side walls. White would broke the overall look but looks too much sweet fairy tale :) Tan for You.

Thank Daisy. No fancy shapes? You mean I should go with subway tile? I was thinking about black tile or white. I heard black is a neutral too. What do you think? My entire house will be painted white

grab a roll of black paper with a bit of gloss to it and stick it up there. I don't think I'd like it, but you might. I certainly wouldn't do something as dramatic as black without mocking it up first. mxk3, is right that it should be a shade from your stone. Get some samples and post some pics.

I grabbed some samples (not sure if enough) and here ar eso me pics. So far and leaning toward the white rectangle tile and the black glossy ceramic tile. I like how the glow matches with the glow the granite has. Any thoughts ?

i vote for the white! That's just my preference. Your granite is very detailed so I think the white will keep a simpler look.
