I think it looks fine but I think I would have gone with upholstered chairs in a slate blue to provide a little contrast to all the gray.

The chairs look fine together. The styles are the same, and the vertical detail on both the wood and the upholstery helps them also. I agree that some color somewhere in your house would be nice, but it's not necessary. You wouldn't want upholstered chairs in both areas or wood chairs in both areas. The contrast between the two is good.

I like the chairs and stools together. They're the same shape so they "go" without being boring.

I'd redo the stool upholstery, especially if they're the easy-to-do type. (They look like the ones where you unscrew the seat and staple fabric over--don't even need to remove the original fabric.) The color is a little too close to that of the chairs. So it should either match or be significantly different. A pattern would be nice.

I think four dark barstools with backs of that size are too much for that space. Too dark, heavy, and crowded. I’d look for lower or no backs, lighter backs, or less stools. It would open up the area and provide better flow and cohesion. I see why you feel they’re ”off”, I agree.

My thoughts are it looks like you will only ever feed and seat 4 people? But with those large chairs you couldn't use 6 let alone 8.

Yeah....you could use a little color....but lookinga t the rest of the house it appears that the gray and black colorscheme is what you like and are keeping, so leave the bar chairs as they are.

The chairs are fine, everything doesn’t have to match. Looks a little color starved, however. The only color I see is in the bottles on the bar cart and some of the dog’s toys in her bin.

Thank you everyone for the info! Okay - more color, noted. Most of the grey came from my extremely builder grade apartment that was ALL grey (I bought my house based on most of my furniture and decor I already had) From all I’ve heard I am planning on doing the following:

Which one would be best? I really like the first two & I agree something with a blue hue would look good.

My main colors are grey, dark blue (looks black in some areas), and dark brown. Where should i add additional color? Also what color would be a nice accent?

table and chairs…i know there is generally no issue with wood colors not matching for dining tables - however, i always thought that if you were going to mismatch you would want a stark contrast. These woods are so close that I am still a bit bothered by it in certain lights

You don't need to add more than the 4 chairs to your dining table if they aren't needed everyday. I'd use the second or third fabric for the stools. The first will be more muted/gray from a distance, and I think you need the contrast. I'd add color in your home through the artwork. I'd add a large piece of art to the far wall on the short side of your sectional, and replace the art above your dining table with something more colorful and interesting. Artwork shouldn't be purchased to "match" the colors you already have, but should be based on a subject matter you love, or something you love to look at everyday. Since everything else in your rooms is so nuetral, I'd look for pieces that have some deeper blues but incorporate enough other color to be interesting. Or with high contrast between light and dark. Greens can also freshen a space and connect it more to the outdoors.

I like the indigo fabric but I think 3 chairs at the counter is plenty or even two.
