I want to see your bedding selection as rugs, pillows and curtains must play-off each other. I think the bedside lamps are too small for reading in bed.

I would get a headboard first. here is some visual

without changing up much, you can do something like this. no headboard, just large pillows.

a bit more. woven wood blinds, some art, nicer bedding/pillows. a diff light

however, get a headboard, some nice linens/throw, a rug, a cool light, a bench, and decor items, and you get these:

I'd think about painting that wall a dark color. it would look nice w/the wood trim.

then try and build up your headboard or make one. (lots of DIYs if you're on a budget)

get a rug, and a bench for the foot of the bed.

and get a proper spread/linens.

a woven wood blind would go w/your wood trim. I still like the dark wall though.

Have you ever thought about redoing the trim and baseboards? it's not difficult to DIY. larger window casing and taller baseboard, all painted white.
