On the walls of a stairwell - Need ideas
Comments (9)I didn't get to check this post yesterday and was glad to see some replies today. Thank you. I have thought about re-doing some family photos in black and white or sepia for my hallway or stairwell along the side. The back wall that you can see from the entry has a light fixture below like Newhomebuilders photo. I need to put a new light there and wonder if I should use a sconce aimed up at the whatever-I-put-there. Lindybarts - Wish I had a houseplant that looked that good. lol My thumb is green outside but turns brown when I come in. I killed a fern just like that once. : ( I'm checking out the Z Gallerie website you mentioned. Thank you. Hoyamom - What a cool idea. Has your son seen that photo? I'm sure he appreciates knowing that you're thinking of him every time you see that clock - and many times in between probably. God bless. Newhomebuilder - Thank you for putting the spacing on there. That will give me something to compare too. Had to look at that basket twice. That's unique. I sometimes sit things at the top of the stairs to take down when I go....See MoreCracks where ceiling meets wall - stairwell
Comments (4)If one side of that drywall is nailed to bottom of stair stringers that might be the problem, not worth worrying about. If that's true I would install large crown molding fastened only to stringer to alow it sliding on wall as movement take's place. Bottom line,I can't tell you the facts unless you fly me in to look at it....See Moretall blank faded stairwell needs your opinion

Comments (23)I was intrigued by the stepped wall on the far side of the stairs, tried painting it different shades of gray to emphasize the different planes. Then one thing led to another, inspired by your unique and carefully curated chair/table/frames. Could a pair of comfortable chairs sit in the "thin strip of usable space" in the center of the room, with traffic flowing on either side of them? Nice place for coffee and chat, perhaps? (Just a note: if I were to re-do this editing, I would set the existing chair flat against the wall rather than angled.)...See Morecalidesign
