Family room nearly complete (PIP) just need large area rug!
Comments (71)I'm glad you found something you really like. Just a small consideration, but the Chinese vase at the corner of the fireplace looks rather unbalanced, and the chair by it seems a little too large for that space. You could try positioning it where it faces the long side of the ottoman, i.e. facing towards the windows....See MoreCurtains in just one area of great room? Yes or no?
Comments (5)Did you plan for them to close? If you bought them where they have easy returns, go ahead and pick up enough for all the windows. Tape them up and see what you prefer. Return the ones you decide against. You might use them on all three windows on the left of your first pic and then just have matching faux romans made for the end and kitchen windows from another panel or two. Or you could do drapes in the dining and faux romans at all the other windows....See MoreOpen Kitchen/Dining Area: style help, wood tones, dining table
Comments (8)I know this post is over a year old... Wanted to compliment you on your choice of Table! I have a 48" Round Pedastal Table that has a huge leaf! I live in a small aprtment in the city and love the fact that my table is compact for everyday but can accomodate guests. I am on the hunt for an 8' ROUND rug fo rmy table and came across your post! GREAT CHOICE in RUG! You were asking for advice on any other improvements as well... I absolutley love that sideboard area...Was thinking instead of the cute ledges with pictures...I can't help but feel that corner is screaming for some reflection and light... How about a tall arched mirror..or even a rectangular window type mirror... (Link: Arched Mirror, Another Choice...)a little less wide than the buffet and tall in scale... and a cute accent/buffet lamp would be awesome! It could offer some beautiful reflection and some accent lighting... Just a thought. I have found some really cool mirrors at Hobby Lobby and Homegoods! What a beautiful space! I love the fireplace...I also love the clock over the fireplace... I'm a huge clock person...AND Its in a very practical place! Thanks for being a Houzzer and offerirng up a beautiful space for us to admire! Cheers!...See MoreLooking for dining area/reading area combo ideas
Comments (13)I don’t imagine my latest suggestion much appeals to you but it occurred to me later that if you can find another place for the hutch, creating seating in that corner something like this might work for you The bench love seat doesn’t need to be an ”L”, It could be just straight across and you might be able to find one with right measurements that you can buy off the shelf. Instead of the kind of sconces shown in the photo, you could get down lights for reading. You could add an ottoman for comfort with a smaller table. In that configuration, the dining table would be centered on fireplace and cheated toward the kitchen. On the side of the fireplace where your table and chair are now located, a drinks bar might be nice, in the spirit of your Lillet poster. An upholstered armchair at the head of the dining table closest to the window (or one at each end of the table) could make it possible to have conversational seating at that far corner of the room by turning one chair at the dining table toward the seating area between the fireplace and the window....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
