How about purchase a counter-depth refrigerator until you remodel. I like the nook for Cafe cozy.

Yes, moving your refrigerator while you figure out your remodelling plans to the breakfast nook is an excellent idea!

A portable island or cart (IKEA sells them)in the space where the refrigerator is now is a great idea.

Another thought for that space, if you lack storage space you can get a tall double door storage cabinet from either Lowes or Home Depot or IKEA. Later on, you can move it to the garage or use it for crafts or office supplies.

Your big refrigerator all by itself might look strange in the breakfast room; I think it's better to replace it with a counter-depth refrigerator that you could use after the remodel, but leave it where it is. Another thing that bothers me is the ceiling light. I would update it with something inexpensive but a little more traditional looking. And finally, nix the scalloped edging above your sink; I would replace it with a simple straight edge. Congratulations on your new home, it looks like it's going to be a beauty!

realistically the kitchen needs to be redone.. It is a bit cramped maybe but useable , regardless. You have perhaps either side of this internal space...to liv room or dining room that you can extend into. When the time is right...some money available these kinds of things will get you better use of the overall spaces. for now I'd leave it and get a moveable island for the nook. you can have some seating .....and you'll have some work space from this type of selection and the window there...along w ceiling fan will make this a good option...not pushing the fridge down there.

I think your idea would be fine for now, but make sure you have some landing space for the fridge. When you plan the new kitchen, and if you don't plan on removing the wall between the kitchen and DR, you might consider recessing a full-depth fridge into the wall, or a bit farther into the room, to give you more space in the kitchen, while retaining as much cold storage as possible. Other ideas for new kitchen: As many drawer bases as possible, and stacked cabinets to the ceiling. Move DW to the left of the sink, out of the prep space.

I think your idea is a good one. Think of the breakfast room as a walk in pantry. put the fridge there, plus a counter and shelves or cabinet for pantry storage.

- I like the idea of making the breakfast nook a huge pantry, but it would cost you natural light. Instead, I'd go with two pantry cabinets in the breakfast nook /this kitchen is small, and those two cabinets would give you a world of storage ... and put in as many windows as possible /a very small table with a built-in banquette or two chairs.

- Move the refrigerator to the "top wall". Place the range on this wall too.

- Go with a slightly deep -- maybe 30" deep -- peninsula between the kitchen and the dining room. This would be a great place to serve food /would open up these two small spaces to one another. I think this item alone would really make the spaces feel so much larger.

- I'd like to say add a couple stools to this peninsula, but with the dining room being less than 10' deep, I don't think you can afford the space.

- Could you possibly relocate the laundry room and the closet to another area ... and make the kitchen a little deeper?

I would completely open the wall between the kitchen and dining room so the kitchen and breakfast nook area can all be utilized as kitchen space. Having the dining room open to the kitchen negates the need for a separate breakfast nook.

A counter-depth fridge would be a good start….and a movable island. I would not remove the wall between the dining room and kitchen unless you never have special event dinner parties. I like a dining nook in the kitchen for everyday meals.
