I love your kitchen!!! You did such a beautiful job. I noticed that you have Holiday cabinets. Are you happy with them? How is their quality and finish. They look beautiful in the showroom. I'm just planning my new kitchen and the KD that I spoke to carries this line. He said it's a custom line. Do you know if the cabinets come framed and frameless? Thanks for your help.

I'd call it Tudor, but its probably more accurately a storybook cottage. Whatever you want to call it, what a neat house. It's adorable! I'd prefer a light stucco with dark trim. It's just what looks right to me. The green you have now reminds me a little of the green used in the brick and timber frame farmhouses in northern Germany. Decorate for the house you actually have, not the fantasy house that you don’t have. Notice I didn’t say “Design”. Design for this was a year ago, and didn’t involve anything Tudor. Design is Form. The bones. Your Form is set, and the basic Form is not Tudor. It does have a lot of nice Modern simplicity going for it. Simplicity that would be best served by a single cladding material, however that might be achieved. And a redo of the copper roof to achieve a more modern and simple direction. It’s ornateness is a jarring element against the rather more severeness of the body. Severity in this case is a good style direction. Bringing on late in the game decoration that isn’t at all part of the design form will look even more unnatural and overblown. Like Mario Buatta set loose in Phillip Johnson’s Glass House. IMO, the turret does’t make it ”Tudor”, though it is admittedly a unique feature of the house. I would paint the brick, chimney and turret. It will give you a fresh look all the way. Neighbors of mine painted their (brick) house Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee (OC-45); its a beautiful soft white. Easy to look at - not glaring optic white - and easy to work with/accent . It may not be the right tone to your stone window wells, or enough contrast to your white windows, but a place to start. You might consider coordinating colors with the stone window-well, so the tones don’t clash. That way, you will be able to find a compatible color with the right undertones no matter what direction you go. If you go to the ”whites”, consider the white of the exterior windows (and back door?); you’ll want enough contrast that looks intentional vs. hit-and-miss. A pop of color at the front door inside the turret could be fun! Since you will be painting the house trim and eaves, maybe paint them the white of the existing windows to tie things together. I would definitely paint the stucco foundation…. a deeper/“heavier”/weighted coordinating color on the color strip or color wheel. Again, it will be a fresh look and ”ground”/balance the color above on the siding/clapboard. If you’re unsure or uncomfortable in selecting colors, most interior designers offer (hourly?) color consultations without the commitment of engaging them for an entire project. Garage: Maybe an opportunity to paint the trim white (as the house trim and windows) [color #1], the garage sides and automatic door one of the house colors [color #2], and the gable the 3rd color, echoing all the fresh new colors of the house.
