Circular staircase decor help!

My poor front door hallway has been bare for over 5 years. I just cannot come up with what to do to give it a little something. It seems like such an awkward small space. If it was a straight wall I would have done a table. Any ideas on lighting, wall decor, tables, chair or anything would be so appreciated!

I'd add some more curves -- the 30-inch West End tripod table looks like it could be a good fit. The light fixture should also be curvy. The two shown are just placeholders, depending upon your style and the style of your home generally.

This is one of those situations where wallpaper would cover the starkness of the wall and add some color at the same time. It's cheaper than buying new furniture and leaves the space open to walk freely.

(You can also add a curved bench if it still seems naked to you)

Twitchy, What did you do about the square newel post? I am having a similar problem, but one thing that is different is that my wife wants a volute (the corkscrew curved rail) at the bottom of the stairs, but I don't know if I can do it. I wanted a box newel, but I'd like to see if a volute is even an option. (We also have the bullnose 1st tread, like yours.) My stairs are "closed stringers", meaning that you can't see the risers or "stair-step" from the side of the stairs. I believe yours is a closed stringer staircase, also. All of the other pics in this post have open stringers, where you see the sides of the risers and treads, and the balusters sit on the stair tread, itself. I have a 2x4 finished knee-wall on the side that the balusters will be resting on (similar to yours, as well). I was just wondering how yours turned out, or if anyone else has any suggestions for putting a volute on a closed stringer stairway, where the balusters will be fastened to a kneewall or the like. Remove that carpet from the ledge that is just silly. I would look for an amazing contemporary wallpaper for above the trim and a coordinating color of paint for the bottom. When you have the money change those spindles to something much simpler if you like contemporary.I love a touch of metallic. Remove the carpet from the stairs and paint the spindles white, A nice sized round table with gold legs and glass top with a fab lamp with a gold lined shade in either white or black depending on the wall paper and a vase for fresh flowers when you entertain or just for everyday.

Have you thought about wall paper on that wall you definately need a better light and IMO no Edison bulbs any hwere if you really care about colors you choose.You have some nice choices but then you cast a yellow light over it all. Change your bulbs to LEDs in 4000K before doing anything moore you will be surprised how much better everything looks at night.

I would add some colorful abstract art pieces. Since you like minimal, then canvas wraps or very simple metal frames. Perhaps a hanging plant. There is not room for anything else. No shelves, no desks, nothing. If I decided to paint the railing now, then I would choose a shade of white that is a couple of nicks darker than the wall paint, preserving the white on white look. Even a subtle change between the wall & trim color will go a long ways in relieving the monotony. Any drastic color change should wait until you have selected artwork.

What are the dimensions of that area? Have you tried looking online or at specialized stores?

I have tried online but have no luck. I don't how to measure but it is 69 inches from far left trim corner to the stair rail.

How large are the floor tiles? They look roughly 12-in square -- helps with seeing what will fit.

I large fiddle fig plant with a substantial vase? Keep it simple.
