There are all sorts of people in the community.

There are designers, craftspersons, specialty trades, and contractors.

There are also wannabees and enthusiasts.

Some of us are kind and gentle. Some will support anything you want to do. Others are more direct and will tell you that your idea is not that good. Someone may tell you that your idea is bad.

If you ask your questions, you will get all sorts of answers (depending on who answers).

The more specific you can be (without giving away too much personal information), the more targeted your answer will be. However, someone will want to see the bigger picture that your direct question. Think of it as you ask whether this scarf goes with your skin tone. Someone will notice the spot you are trying to cover with the scarf and will tell you to have that area checked by a doctor, because it might be cancer.

If you have pictures of what currently exists, that is helpful. If you are interested in remodeling (which I guess you are since you posted in the remodeling forum), a to-scale drawing of the existing area would be helpful.

If you ask, you will get lots of good information. You may not like some of it, and you may have to wade through some information that doesn't relate to your question. But the good information that you will receive will be worth much in saved money, time, and frustration.

So kempek,are you saying the wheat might need to be seperated from the chaff , that some responders might need a threshing,or both? (;

On many Houzz threads, yes there is some chaff amongst the wheat. I have probably contributed some chaff (I don't need the rest of the forum to point them all out!, though!)

Whether a responder needs to threshed, or thrashed for that matter, is beyond my pay grade. I think someone named Emily is ultimately responsible for that!
