Granite Countertop With Gap between the wall
Comments (12)" ... My point is they aren't returning phone calls and they have the money. There is zero that can be done if they don't care enough to do the job correctly in the first place and won't answer the phone now. The time to do due diligence was well before now." While I do agree that the job should have been done correctly the first time, there is a possibility that the OP can still get resolution and maybe it's not time to throw in the towel just yet. A recent poster just went through some quality issues with a low-cost pre-fab company and they refunded her money, so resolution is not impossible. The OP posted on Saturday, so maybe the shop is closed for the weekend. And as adreak100 suggested, the OP's CC company or bank may be able to assist. " ... Lowest price fabricator that you could find? Or double the price of that guy? If the first, you got what you paid for. The second, you wouldn't have even had to make the call because the problem wouldn't exist." Maybe the OP was working in a very strict budget. It doesn't mean they shouldn't get a decent job where the gap can at least be covered by the backsplash of their choice. It's not really fair to say that everyone who doesn't pay the highest price deserves to get ripped off. Just MHO. " ... They don't get to blame the wall; it's as irrelevant as what they had for breakfast." LOL....See MoreInstalling Formica Countertop With Uneven Walls
Comments (8)Durabond 90 is just a type of drywall mud. It's not to difficult to use. It normally comes in a bag but you can find premixed stuff as well. The easiest way for a beginner would be to put thin coats until you get the wall staightened out. If you put to much it can make for alot of sanding and you'll prob need to sand between coats a little since your a beginner. This also depends on how far out your wall is. Hopefully it's not out to much as mud tends to crack when to thick, durabond 90 resists this cracking well though. Your gonna wanna build the mud slightly thicker than what you need and then sand it smooth and staight. Don't over sand the edges as you can tear the drywall up. You want the edges to kind of fade in, the best check for a good job is just run your hand across and check the smoothness. Also lights from lots of different angles can help see spots as well. Hope this helps. Drywall mud is not the easiest thing in the world but you can always sand it off or add more....See MoreQuartz gap wall to counter
Comments (21)I would be looking for another cabinet in the correct size to match what you have, on craigs list, at a habitat restore etc, and add it to your uppers so they are equal to the countertops. If you really cant find one, then put in some shelves matched to your cabinet color and make sure the bottom one is exactly level with the end of your countertop and even with the bottom of your cabinet. Then run your back splash to the end of the counter and on up to the end of the shelf....See MoreOur quartz countertops were cut poorly — no choice but to leave lip?
Comments (10)Depending upon the size of the gap, there are some designs where a pencil liner (or tile chair rail piece) is installed at the bottom of the backsplash and then tile installed above. You could also have the countertop splash cut down to 2" rather than 4" and minimize the look. It may be hard to see, but something like the small trim piece at the bottom of this backsplash might cover the gap. Most lines of tile have decorative pieces and they don't have to be a contrasting color....See MoreMelissa R
