fast shade loving vine?

Would like find a fast growing climbing vine that would attach to my lattice ..that would grow well in shade.

Need to know where geographically you are located; if the vine needs to be evergreen or can be leafless in winter and whether you want annual or perennial.

And are you sure you want a vine? That is a very short span of latticing and most vines will exceed that height in a matter of weeks. Then you will either need to prune heavily or spend a lot of time weaving all the vining stems in and out of the lattice horizontally.

Seems like low growing shrubs similar to what shows in photo would be a better fit.

Paint the lattice brown. You don't want a vine on that.

I've been researching Akebias. Some research says it can be invasive, but most posts say its not. It produces an edible fruit in 3-5 years. The vine itself is gorgeous with big leaves. Most posts say it prefers shade. It grows from seed, you may be able to get someone from the exchange forum to send you something. It is supposed to grow really fast. I just ordered mine from Raintree Nursery, I've bought lots of things from them before, paper catalog and online, located in WA., dependable, nice people. They had several varieties.

I was looking through my Wayside Gardens catalogue the other day and they sell a vine called "Dutchmans Pipe" that they say is for shade. I have a fence in the shade I also want to cover, this vine caught my eye. I have no experience with it but am willing to give it a go.

Hi! I am in the same position, needing vines for shade. I chose a red honeysuckle, less invasive than it's yellow version, but long blooming and nice smelling. I also had people suggest clematis. I understand several varieties grow in the shade, especially "Sweet Autumn". Also folk suggested Kiwi! I never even knew they grew in the shade and you get fruit too!
