something else I have seen along this line is using the wooden part from a plunger and a terra cotta clay pot...the plunger wood part works better, since you will put the end with the threading into the hole in the pot...I've seen it done 2 ways, with the pot turned upside down, and with the pot upright with the opening part up..if you use a big enough pot then tp rolls can sit inside the pot and all the way up the plunger handle...of course paint as desired, or decopage the pot etc. to secure the wooden plunger handle after feeding it through the hole in the pot, you could find a large threaded nut (there is something else I've seen that works, cant think of what it was but it was plastic and had threads so that you would feed it up onto the plunger to make it tight to the pot. I think if you are creative enough you might just be able to reuse the rubber part of the plunger that the wooden handle screws into someway on the outside (or if you flip the pot over, and its' big enough you could put the rubber part inside the pot, so it wont show...

I was dreading getting my first low volume toilet until I stayed in a hotel with the Toto line of products. Fortunately for me I procrastinated in getting one and now American Standard has the same type of engineering in their toilets for half the cost or less. I know I sound like a shill for American Standard but I LOVE my new Cadet 3 toilet. It is very quiet, flushes completely in 2 seconds (see video below) and refills quickly and quietly in 30 seconds. Any toilet that can flush over a dozen golf balls in 2 seconds can probably handle your 7-year-old's production. I decided the first time I DON'T have to call a plumber for a drain clean out, or embarrass my guests with plumbing problems, I will have easily paid for the toilet. If I owned a plunger I would clean it as best I could in the clean toilet, shake water off, and drop it in the trash can to dry.

Don't want to jinx myself here but after replacing our toilet almost 2 yrs ago, I haven't need the plunger. I still have it out in the garage just in case. With our old toilet I did keep the plunger in the bathroom next to the toilet but it was in plastic thing that concealed the plunger portion. I keep one plunger that is marked "kitchen only" under the kitchen sink...the side of the sink without disposal gets a little slow every so often and needs a good plunge. When the plumber was out replacing the piping under the kitchen sink, he said that was the first time he'd ever seen that...I think he was referring to the fact that I marked the plunger :-)

I have bad news about retrieving hard objects with an auger,it only works one time in about three dozen. I maintained apartments and childcare buildings so I consider myself a double barrel expert on toothpaste tubes,make-up containers, toys,leggos and such in toilets. As many times as you have augered the toilet,I doupt a few more are likly to solve this. I'm not convinced the problem is an object hung in toilet so let's double back and look at it again. Are you saying water is still stained or does solid body waste and t-paper remain after flushing? I ask because the big wad of toilet paper test duplicates #2 and should have failed if an object is hung in trap. Here's something else that can give you fitts with cheap barly adiquate toilets ( the early versions of water saver toilets were all junk,even name brands that were expensive). I suggest anyone with early water savers replace them if slugish toilets are a problem. Either after #2 or with large amount of paper in bowl,remove lid from tank and flush. Pay close attention to flapper "AND" water in bowl as it flushes. The flapper should remain standing open until water level in bowl starts rapidly falling. As water rushes out and only 10% to 20% normal amount of water is in bowl flapper fall's and stops flow from tank to bowl. If flapper closes early tank valve needs adjusted to fill tank higher. If water rushes out to about 20% then rises a liitle then rushes out again ,level in tank needs adjusted lower. Here's the process I use after strongly suspecting or confirming hard object in toilet. Totally empty bowl and towel dry it (I use a wet vac but you can dip 80% of water with a small cup or laddle then soak remainder with towel). If the object is something like a small bottle that floats it will fall to bottom of trap when water is removed. A tiny hand held inspection mirror on a swivling handle ( I bought mine at an auto parts store,mechanics use one most every day). Place mirror at bottom of trap and move around to inspect upper bend in trap while shinning flashlight in mirror. 9 times out of ten you can see the object. I now have a flexiable tool with claws on tip but used bent cloths hangers for several years to hook object while looking in the mirror. If the object can't be seen,it's possible but highly unliky to be hung out of sight because trap is smallest at top of bend. One object make's it around bend it usually make's it completly out of toilet. Misalighnment at floor flange can sometimes create a snag for things. There you are,Klem's mini course on slow potties.
