Comments (29)Gosh, you guys are so nice. Thanks for all your nice comments. Here are some answers to a few questions: The Backsplash: I feel so sorry for all those poor souls who agonize over the backsplash--asking for mock-ups, changing their minds a thousand times. It is a hard decision. I just hauled a piece of my granite, a cabinet door, my floor tile, and an inspiration photo around to about 6 different tile stores, sat down, and sat "give me your best idea." The best idea was from Trinity Tile here in Central Florida: Interceramic, Oxide Ceramic tile in Graphite ( a dark chocolate brown) color 6x6 tiles were $3.45 a square foot, 1x6 pieces were $2.35 a piece. The 3x6 subway tiles and the 2x2 inserts were just cut from the 6x6 by a great tile guy. Floor: the floor is a chiseled edge travertine in an Ashlar (sometimes called Venetian) pattern. It comes in 4 different sizes and then the pattern is created Coffee Pot: Is Kitchen Aid Pro and yes, it makes a great cup of coffee....See MoreAfter all blooms on lily spike are spent and fall what should be done
Comments (1)Lilies are not rebloomers :-) Each bulb will produce a single flower stalk each season, much like spring blooming tulips, crocus and narcissus do. Once the lilies are done with this season's bloom, you can cut off the 'candleabra' or the cluster of spent flower stems just below the bottom one but leave the rest of the stalk intact. The leaves on the remaining stalk need to mature and brown to nourish the bulb for the coming year. I'm not sure why they were advertised as blooming throughout the summer, unless they just meant that lilies were summer blooming bulbs and can be expected to bloom at some point in summer, depending on specific type. They do not repeat flowering during a single growing season. One great show of flowers, then that's it until next year....See MoreTeeny tiny full bathroom reveal. Some said it couldn't be done!
Comments (23)Monica, that floor is gorgeous in her inspiration photo!! The tile showrooms (at least here in the Northeast) are all showing dozens of wood/tile varieties. I'm sure she could find several wide pine options like her Photo. I would do real wood anywhere except a bathroom. I was afraid of the moisture on it. Have her post updates here! Farmhouse coastal is a gorgeous look. I redid my kitchen 3 years ago with New England coastal theme and still love it as much as I did on day 1! Last night, I took my first bath in the new bathroom and love the tub and how deep it is. Haven't tried the handheld yet......See MoreUser
