Blue is a great counter to Orange... Does your grey wall lean to blue?

Denim Blues are popular right now with rugs, upholstery. I would stay away from wood tones... how about Black chairs, table frames, picture/mirror frames. Navy & White are good accent colors.

@lyn Nielson the walls actually lean more warm than cool. All depends on the time of day. The provided pic below they look beige however at night, a little cooler looking. I am trying to lighten up the house as well. We live in South Florida and I have been in a dark home way too long 😉

A couple of cheap, easy fixes until you get furniture....

Take away the mirror behind your dining table and add a large, square piece of art (think 48"x48"). Make sure the color of the artwork incorporates the orange of your floor. This one has some light blue in it, so would play well with your rug...

Take down the other mirror in the dining room (it isn't reflecting anything beautiful), and add some textural art - something like below, but hang it vertically

It's hard to tell what type of furniture - can you post a better image of the room, along with room dimensions? Without that, I might suggest soft grey/blue furniture - and use a glass coffee table to open up the space.

I'd get wall to wall seagrass and cover the floors totally until you can change them. Seagrass is neutral and goes with anything, provides nice texture, has a coastal feel, and is easy to care for. Then you can select any furnishings and colors you like!

Blue just makes the floor more orange. It's a complementary color. You perceive your floors as orange because it's the only color in the room.

Make a decision about how you want to complement your existing furniture. I have included a wide variety of rugs so you can see the effect on your room. You have 3 mirrors within 10 ft of each other and that is 2 mirrors too many

I would choose lighter colored furniture - cream leather, glass top table, rattan, etc. And take away any heavy window coverings that you may have. However, you can't expect color alone to lighten up a dark room - you have to ADD LIGHT in the form of table lamps, overheads, floor lamps, wall sconces, etc. The orange tones of the floor will be less noticeable if you have some other color in the room, so choose a bright accent color and make sure it is repeated at least 3 times in lamps, artwork, accent pillows, etc.

Wow I think Beverly's examples are incredibly helpful. Clearly the floor color is staying and it's clearly the same in each example. I think they all work but it's more a question of personal preference. For me, I really like the first one and last one with very muted colors--- but they do all look good and it is just a question of what speaks to you.

I totally love Beverly's last two rugs in her lineup, especially the second to the last. They echo the floor just a tad but also work with your walls (and current furniture actually.) The art work is great too.

Since you are looking to replace some furnishings, i would suggest going lighter in color, and with less bulk, on sofa(s). And rug(s) that are more complementary to the floor, color-wise, etc.
