I'm sure the pros and others will have great ideas but I think you should use more than one size, especially if you aren't using a separate accent strip. You could use the small tiles in an accent strip and the larger (5 or 12 inch) tile in the field. Or to add more interest, use all three sizes - one size over the accent strip and another size under the accent strip. I don't think you have to worry about them looking too busy since they're all the same color. You could even set some of them on a diagonal. I used some software (recommended by Bill) to design mine and it really helped me visualize various patterns in my space. If you'd like, I can check for the name when I get home later. Good luck!

Thanks, prairiedawn. My style actually is more of a rustic/modern country style rather than traditional, although I have a mix of everything! I used BM Baby Turtle in the powder room and laundry room, which are adjacent to the foyer, SW Artifact in the great room, which is just beyond the foyer, and SW Believable Buff and Camelback throughout the rest of the house. roseabby, I spoke to the salesman at Macys and he also mentioned a 2'6" runner may be out of scale. The problem is I do NOT want to cover up most of the wood flooring. Would a smaller area rug placed horizontally across the front doors, rather than a larger run placed vertically in the room, look strange? The two doors are 6' wide and the entire wood entry is approx. 10' wide.

🥴 Just a thought given your room is eclectic - your desk could suit being back a bit and on a slant, as furniture feels lined up. Slant a 5x7 rug underneath. Move floor lamp to another corner and add art on back wall and use tones from your rug. Room will be really cute - image couch below is your desk but up further and on a slant.

The outside is 19x19. A 9x12 goes under all the front legs of furniture. I moved the sofas back a bit but still away from walls :) I have downsized from a 6500 square foot house. Yes, furniture is closer together than my old family room, but it’s also comfy and cozy. I saw a photo from a pro who had the same setup and it looked great!! In reality, it’s not as tight as the photo makes it look. Thanks for sharing!
