Ideas needed for updating 70s wood panel and trim
Comments (3)What I would suggest is to do all the wall painting first and then make a decision, you may feel the wood looks just fine with the new paint. I see no problem with painting the foyer and leaving some of the wood showing....See MoreLayout ideas to open up 70s kitchen.
Comments (18)Okay here is a better rendition of the current/ original layout. Top left kitchen with one window, top right family room with fireplace and TV, bottom left dining room, and bottom right sitting room/formal living room. My goals are to open up the kitchen to the family and dining room. I feel this will help the flow a lot. The kitchen and family room are also very dark, so I want to let in more light. I also plan to move the wall between the family and living room so the hallway runs straight. Currently I want to keep the sink where it is since it is under the window. We discussed it more, and we really don't want a prep sink in an island as we don't feel it wouldn't be worth the cost/functionality for us, though I understand the rational. We cook, but usually not extravagant. I realize though that I'm breaking the zone principles and the ice, water, stone, fire rules. I'd like to open up like this, but still struggling to layout the kitchen in a sensible way. Any other suggestions to improve the whole home/kitchen layout/flow/functionality? Thank you....See More70's House exterior update ideas needed
Comments (5)If you don't want windows on the right side of the house, you can just plant taller shrubs in that space. I don't like the two different shaped windows on the left side of the house in your rendering. If you're adding those horizontal rectangular windows in the bump out, then use the same shaped windows below on the garage. You can place them higher on the wall so people can't look into the garage to see if you're home....See MoreJust bought -70s starter home in Florida - need interior color ideas!
Comments (11)Hi, and thanks, trendtown. Replacing the countertops is not in budget - they are almost new granite, just a pretty awful color - I think they were budget or just different taste 😱 Cabinets are really nice, and while I did a remodel in another house about four years ago - repainted cabinet uppers in BM White Dove (Advance) and lowers in gray - and they still look great, Advance very forgiving, and leveled so well, you can't tell they were brushed unless you carefully examine. Walls were BM Pale Oak, but we wish we had gone White Dove on the walls, too. All trim was White Dove. Big focus will be lighting changes - very inexpensive now using the 4" clip in LEDs while daisy chaining them - attic access not even required. If we did go with White Dove eggshell walls, and White Dove semi gloss trim (BM is a bit shinier than SW), would it be too monolithc?...See MoreKathleen Lyon
