Mix and match kitchen quartz countertops but HOW?

Please bear with me, I am coming here with almost no knowledge about picking quartz colors for kitchen countertops. We went for countertops selection today and came home extremely confused on what to choose.

We decided all white cabinets and blue island(not finalized the exact color but something on the dark side). Now coming to countertops, we picked couple samples as potential choices for island - Hanstone Chantilly, Hanstone Whistler, Aspen.

We also thought about mixing two different colors - one for the cooktop countertops(there were some gray quartz as well) and other for the island(white like Chantilly with gray veins).

Now the lady there said make sure the gray and the whites and the blues all gel together. Honestly i am feeling a bit stressed about it now. How do i mix and match and if i do how do i know it will work together well. What is the easiest way? Tried googling and not much help. can you please helppppp?!

If you have pictures that you could share that would be awesome!

Apologies if this all sounds confusing. I tried my best to explain my problem/question.

If you are doing a different color island keep the countertop the same. IMO, two different colors for countertop and two different colors for cabinets will look like a mishmash. The kitchen will most likely look busy before you even get to the backsplash and the chance of getting all the undertones to match would probably be best left in the hands of a designer.

I was surprised to see your fieldstone sample had a pennywise-like design or texture until realizing it was a reflection - d'oh! I vote both! If picking only one, though, I vote matching backsplash. Matching backsplash give vainities a finished look and, to me, make them look like they are better quality then without although Ive considered ones without because my first priority is overall style, but its definitely preferred. BUT I think if the tile is elsewhere in the bathroom, definitely would improve look to have tile with it and think the size of penny tile makes it an excellent choice as a tile for backsplash

Fwiw, I just mixed faux-marble quartz (Lagoon) with a Carrera backsplash and at least in it's pre-grouted state, I'm really happy. It was hard for me to find a backsplash that worked well with the grey-ish tones of the Lagoon, mostly because my cabinets are painted taupe. Anything that "matched" the cabinets seemed too brownish for the counters. The Carrera blends the two perfectly. I think it also works because I wound up using a very small-scale herringbone pattern, so the patterns in the marble tiles are less pronounced. Fwiw, I don't see the calacutta tiles that the OP posted working with a greyish quartz that's similar to Lagoon, and I'd also be concerned about pattern overload with a subway tile. But having worried about the fake-next-to-real problem, I wanted to at least add my experience that it can be done. One of the prettiest kitchens on here, done by a pro, is GW user @kompy, who used a different marble subway with Lagoon counters, and it looks stunning.

Yes, you can mix two different countertop tops. Either two countertops or two cabinet colors, never both. Those two seem to go together (hard to tell because it's blurry) but speckled stone like the second one don't seem the most updated.

It’s overwhelming isn’t it? If you keep the countertop the same you have one less decision to make and one less chance to get an undertone wrong. Good luck!
