After much searching on LightingDirect.com, I think I have found a large island pendant that will speak to the island fan. I have also found my favourite semi flush light (most of them are not nice). We will have two semi flush lights in the kitchen for ambient light. These semi-flush lights offer uplight illumination. The large island pendant will off down lighting task light. There are matching wall sconces to go on the decorator plate wall, and small pendants for in front of the windows and/or over the clean-up sink area. The sconces and small pendants are from the same lighting collection as the semi-flush lights. The big drum pendant for over the island is a different lighting company. Here are my favourites. Please let me know what you think, and especially if you think the island light will go well with the island vent (be in balance too). Congratulations on the new condo! While recessed lighting looks sleeker than track lighting, I don't see any urgency in replacing the track lighting since you have other remodeling priorities (unless you really, really hate it). Unless this is a flip and you need to please some buyer in the near future, replacing the track could easily wait for a year or two. If the track only bothers you a little, you could look at keeping the track but replacing the track heads. There are only really three types of tracks, so once you figure out which standard yours is, you can buy heads that work on it, with a different look and maybe a different beam angle (I see "hot spots" on the cabinets from the current heads). Do you expect to sit at the counter a lot, or only occasionally? Backless stools generally aren't as comfortable as ones with back support. I love the look of the ones you chose, though.

IMO there can never be enough light in a kitchen , do 4” pots with LEDs in 4000K , no pendnat over the sink just another pot there should be no shadows with the pots placed properly and your contractor is not the one to do this. Your kitchen designer is the person who should be laying out the lighting. If you are concerned about the light being too much then put in dimmers, I have never used a dimmer in a kitchen I put the under cabinet lighting on one switch, the island pendants on another and all the pots on another IMO no dimmers required .Make sure the pendants over the island actually light the island not the ceiling. As for adding pots to the LR. do you need them I don’t usually like them in LRs if you have proper floor and table lamps .Maybe a nice chandelier in the LR depending on your style.
