Need help with best paint color to go with Taj Mahal quartzite!
Comments (12)I have a similar problem. I moved into a home with Taj Mahal quartzite, need to paint cabinets and picked white dove but want to have accent color on the island. My backsplash is an ivory glass tile which looks pretty minty green. Any moody blue to try and bring some blue into the room? I was looking at trout gray or wolf gray. Will this look terrible? Also I’m thinking satin bronze pulls to bring out the gold in the Taj Mahal....See MoreCan’t Believe A Granite that looks like Quartzite Taj Mahal
Comments (15)Hi all. Thanks. I’m no expert but this slab certainly doesn’t look like a granite. But what do I know? When I googled ‘White Pearl Granite’ the result is the typical ‘speckled with grey/black spots white granite’ photos. I’m going to do a test to this slab if this is indeed a granite or mislabeled quartzite, or god forbid marble as it’s really white or non-beige version of Taj Mahal. @chispa If indeed this is a whiter version of Taj Mahal then It’s good because it’s a Quartzite. Because the beautiful beige Taj Mahal is a real hard quartzite. Like yours. Though it’s veiny it’s subtle not like a calacata marble or calacata quartz, which are the veins that I meant as too veiny for the look that I want. I have read the many threads about countertops by Karin the geologist. Trying to educate myself as countertops cost serious dollars. Like everyone else here, I want a countertop that I don’t have to baby. My old kitchen had dark gray granite that was indestructible....See MoreThoughts on Taj Mahal Quartzite
Comments (18)I recently installed Taj Mahal (and love it) after 23 years with verde butterfly granite (a dark green/black). That granite was never sealed and I placed hot pans on it all the time. Never used protection. Now there may have been thermal damage I couldn't see but the stuff was bullet-proof. When I started researching for the remodel, I knew I did not want quartz and did not find a granite that sang to me but then discovered Taj. What I have read over and over is every countertop should be protected from prolonged heat though quartz may be less forgiving than stone due to the resins. I think my Taj would be fine with a few minutes of heat on it - maybe longer - but it's a big investment so I am training myself and DH to use trivets and range kleen pads. So the answer to your question from the stone experts would be nothing is completely heat resistance but my 23 year old granite seemed to be! I went with what I love to see every day this time and luckily I don't have to worry about etching and staining, just too much heat....See MoreTaj Mahal Quartzite
Comments (11)TM is also hard to photograph! Mine look much cooler and gray-ish in photos, but are warm and creamy-beige-gold in real life. eld6161, yes you definitely see the difference in the coloring if you have shopped for TM 10 years ago vs shopping for it now. Even when I bought the slabs in my previous house it was getting harder to find the lighter ones and when they did come in they got snatched up very quickly. I managed to get my 3 lighter slabs from a lot that was all on hold for someone else. When slab shopping for my current house in Dec 2020 there was limited inventory due to covid. I got lucky and found 3 lighter slabs and told my builder to buy them asap. We did have to hold them for 9 months before we needed them. but no one knew at the time when shipments would be arriving again, so I wasn't willing to take the change and miss out on slabs that I liked....See MoreJordan Takacs
