Deck posts without standoffs

I have a deck where the posts (6x6) are installed resting on a concrete patio below without the metal u bracket/standoff at the base. I assume, but don't know how to confirm, there is at least a pin holding the post in place. Is there any way to mitigate against the base of the post wicking water and rotting prematurely? Currently the posts are pressure treated, but not stained and sealed. I assume a solid stain may help a bit, but the endgrain would still be exposed. Also I'd just like to confirm, it is code in mast places to not have those brackets? Whay would a deck builder not include them, they can't be that expensive.

Anyway, my main question is mitigation if they are not present.
