Here are the 2 rugs. The middle picture is the close up on the gray ( I somewhat silver from one end). I got a small sample and it’s gorgeous.

Prob the 2nd one. the first one looks more beige?

BTW, I hope you're choosing a smaller size. the current rug size is too large for that spot.

this one is similar to #2. but see the space near the fireplace? Your other one is too close to the hearth

what about a rug like this? and I think if you did the trim work over your fireplace like shown here, and painted a contrast color, it would look way cool.

or, just paint it like she did here (this isn't the finished picture though!

With ceiling of wood! and bit of farmhouse in console - do you want a warm neutral for rug?

But if we see photos of the nearby areas, we might know more about using much grey... is nearby area 'full of wood' already? :)

The rug that is geometric is acutely has a subdued subtle pattern. It’s not as yellow as it appears in the photo. Reviews say it more blue/grey/ivory.

I think a rug in this size would be more appropriate.

I'd like to see floor peeking next to hearth, and in front of console.

Like this one. see how the rug leaves floor exposure by fireplace? and if there was a console in front of it, it would be even w/that little side table. you'd still have flooring in front of it.

look at the other pictures I posted from an overview. see those sizes? none of them are as large as yours.

your current rug is 8x10? then I'd shoot for a 7X9 or something in that vicinity.

I don'tknow if the sofa can move further down, but currently it looks like it's pushed to far 'up' and the rug extends too far south of it.

I like your generous rug but it shouldn't come closer than 12" from the hearth and 15-18" is better. It should anchor your sofa and extend past the two ends of it by a foot. Tweak the sofa and rug a bit and then I'd do the second rug you show.

I like 7, but you asked Beth.. if reducing modern farmhouse, reduce wood amounts, cause the ceiling has so much [and nice too]. Anyone think of large scale fp -- and to 'match it' a rug can be large.

I don’t think a 7 by 9 exists. I might have to settle for another 8 by 10 and tuck it under the rug more. This one is a little over 10 ft in length so maybe one that’s a little under 10. Ive seen length of 9’7 “. The rug I will get will be a little longer in length so I think it will Balance out a rug this size.

First I would center the rug on the hearth, then bring it 6-12 inches away from hearth. It may be fine but it needs to be placed properly so you can see what you are working with. Also, pull chair out of corner at least a foot and move sofa away from corner a bit.

I think 7 would work. sometimes you can find odd rug sizes (like a 6.8, or a 7.9, etc)

I actually like the rug you have better than the two you've chosen. But what about going with a tone-on-tone pattern in shades of blue?
