Too much leather? Too dark of a room?

I've seen on some pictures, of real estate, where all of the sitting furniture ( which includes sofas, ottoman, dining chairs, entry bench barstools, barstools and even leather bed frames, and no fabric sitting furniture at all) are made of dark coloured leather and/or vinyl, with wooden floorings and dark brown colored walls. What do you guys think of that? Is it excessive on the amount of leather, will the room look too dark and/or cold or does it blend well?

As a designer I would not do all furnishings in the same type of material. If a room has too much of the same material, it looses intererst and character. Mixing materials/fabric add depth to a room and elevates the design

I dont care for leather seating, except if you have a western type ranch home as showcased in the series: Yellowstone.

coleen ... just curious ... did you see the chairs irl & sit in them? ... are you ordering them through a local furniture store? we have been looking for small-scaled leather recliners ... if such an animal even exists! we haven't run across hancock & moore; but if they are a high-quality outfit, we will definitely try to find them (chgo. suburbs) thank you ... & good luck! phyl

We have a leather sofa, large leather chair/matching ottoman and 2 fabric chairs. Our leather is 13 years old and is the most comfortable and solidly built furniture we've ever owned. It's been heavily used, slept in daily, and the only real wear it's showing is fading from unfortunate placement in direct sunlight. I'm looking to replace my furniture, but worried I'll never find anything as comfortable as these leather pieces. The company is Distinction Leather. Best of luck with your search. I'm leaning toward replacement with a fabric sofa and leather recliner, but not sure.

My two cents.....why not get a panelled frig to match your cabinets. "Some" black appliances will look real nice. However, to me frigs in black look big scary and dominating. I feel like they are ready to charge,trample and pack me inside to keep me quiet. I think black refigerators are jealious of beautiful kitchen cabinetry and want all the attention. If you have a big screen tv from the late eighties there is always the risk of them taking off with each other in the middle of the night. If the refrigerator becomes PG you will have thousands of large original cell phone parts in gray at your door step. Do you really want this responsibility? No offence to those who have black refrigerators, my two cents is just that. All your kitchens are gorgeous! Can't help my frig weirdness ....sorry.

IMO you can never have too much leather it has always been my go to for the main pieces in both my LR and media room . This is our LR with 2 seating spaces I did use a wool fabric bench to sit in between the 2 spaces If you buy really good leather that is all leather everywhere the leather breathes and does not get sticky in the summer and cold in the winter it takes less than 10 secs to achieve your body temp. Get the best you can afford I like Italian or German made since they usually do not have springs but a webbing support system that lasts for as long as you want it .

I don't think that all dark is necessarily bad, but what I'm envisioning from your description does not sound like a great look. Texture and pattern add interest to a space, having all leather furniture takes out some opportunities to introduce and vary those things (though both texture and pattern could be introduced in other elements). Pictures would help, since my mental picture could be very different from what you're talking about.

One common reason you see all the furniture be dark leather or vinyl is that it was all purchased as a set. It's an easy choice, but unimaginative and not a great look.
