My brain works a little odd -- let me offer that at the start. I guess I consider room functions first, then assign a subset of the area to achieve it. Any shape can include a (visual) square or rectangle to make the placement work. I can't move my fireplace or the flat TV, so if I get bored with a layout I draw the shape of the room and place the squares/rectangles differently to help with furniture placement. Last year I replaced a sofa with two chairs and that one part of the room became good for conversation and a perfect spot for reading by the fire. Reading this, it sounds weird. :\ My problem is I tend to incorporate the whole space rather than breaking it down into pieces. The drawing helps me focus and shows what can or can;t be done.

Thanks everyone. I'm interested in opinions on aesthetics only: I can't picture whether square or rectangles on the floor will look better with 3x6 rectangles on the tub surround. Floor will be light or medium gray; wall subway glossy white (Arctic White Daltile). (I'm all over the DCOF and COF. DS is disabled; we only buy ADA rated for floor. Tub, no shower floor in this bath. Plenty of friends have 12"x24" in their kids' bathroom floors so I'm confident I can find one rated for this use.)

We recommend 8'x8' as anything smaller can be tight with additional spa users. Feet and knees of users tend to knock into each other. Perhaps you can post your pool plan for a quick look at the design.

We can all fire ideas but you need an architect, a landscape architect and an interior designer. To me the first thing that throws of beachy is that dang driveway........and that whole garage is a mess. I would remove that and have it be separate from the house build a Casida on top of it. with a breezeway. all the giant roman columns.........yuck lol. I think removing the would bring back some symmetry..........
