Do you let your phone update itself?

I have a Samsung and it wanted to update, so I let it. Now it kind of shuts off all the time. All of a sudden the Samsung name will show on the screen and it goes to the home screen where I have to put in my pin to unlock it.

I tried looking under Settings to see if I could undo, or restore to a different day, to get rid of the latest update.

Is there a way to shut updates off, or should I?

Settings are sometimes changed when systems updates. True on PCs as well as phones.

Can you call tech support for your mobile provider to get help?

I believe updates should always be accepted.

What is 'all the time', exactly? How many times has this happened?

Did you check the screen timeout settings?

And did you try restarting your phone yet?

Pug...That is so nice of you to share as you said you would with others...Even though, your plants still look very healhy..I'll bet it just might flower someday...The coloring is very nice even if no flowers..Thank you.. This is evidently still an interesting topic. I almost never call my DS or DIL. I told them at the beginning of their marriage that I would love to hear from them -- whenever they want to call me. (I had an intrusive MIL.) They married one another, not me. With two grammar school age kids and work, they are BUSY. I only hope they have time to talk to one another! (DIL's family is not intrusive either.) DIL never calls me, but will sometimes email me. DS will call every 4 - 6 weeks. He sometimes uses speaker phone so we can chat with the whole family. DIL and I will chat for half an hour if *I* ask to speak with her individually. DH and I love to hear from them, but we have all the time in the world. They don't. It's good to have 'ties that bind' as long as the binding isn't a stranglehold.

We are below a bluff in a residential area around a river so cell phone reception is marginal - sometimes I can use my phone if I stand very still in a good spot. Landline is essential. We have the cordless phone base station in the bookshelf by the kitchen table. The charging bases are less than 3" by 3" so they can go almost anywhere. We keep one in the kitchen behind the espresso machine at the end of our L. That spot is right next to the patio door and convenient to the family room and kitchen. We have a hardwired phone in my husband's office so we are covered for power outages. Our phone service shares a fiber to the home with our TV and internet signals. I know that there is a battery that is suppose to last for at least 24 hours on the router box that converts the phone to an electrical signal, but we haven't had a power outage of more than an hour in the 10 years we've been on FTTH so there hasn't been any test of whether the system would stay up longer than cell towers if there was a major power disaster.

My remodeled kitchen and bathroom. My kitchen is an eat in kitchen. My house is a 1 1/2 story so the unfinished upstairs is the attic. Neighbour Ken said it would only take some new drywall and something to cover the sub floor to make it a nice big sitting room, bedroom or craft room. Lots of storage but the attic is pretty full up right now. At Christmas time I store all my baked goods in tins on the attic stairs because it is cool. Natural wood fireplace but I only burn those 3 hour logs but in case of power outage I have lots of seasoned wood out back that I could use in the fireplace. My bedroom at the back of the house is cool in the winter and the summer which I like. No mortgage Two room unfinished basement with cement floors and cement block walls which is good because when the storm sewers back up as they often do I don't have to worry about cleaning carpets or replacing furniture. New washing machine will be up on blocks soon in anticipation of the next flood. House faces west so lots of afternoon sun which helps to heat up the house in the winter. Clothes chute in the hall to the laundry room. Lots of parks and trails nearby plus I live just 3 blocks from the Detroit River and within walking distance to the mouth of Lake St, Clair. I love being so close to the water and the riverfront parks. Most of my family lives within walking distance. No carpeting in my house which is wonderful especially when I have 2 cats and a dog that seem to shed all the time. Original hardwood floors but they do need to be refinished. Heated linen closet in the winter when the furnace is on - sheets and towels are always warm Fairly big lot, deep fenced in back yard Wonderful neighbours except for the witch. Grew up on this tree lined street so it is home and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. LOL I love my bed which I don't spend nearly enough time in. I love my house when it is decorated at Christmas. Very cozy.

Mine (an iPhone) updates itself but does so overnight, never randomly during the day. I wonder if your problem is something other than that last update. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

My iPhone tells me when it wants to update and always does in the time specified. .

You should be able to set the time frame for updating in your settings...

My iPhone doesn't tell me it wants to update, just that it will during the night and must be plugged up to a power source to do so. I always allow updates on my phone.

My son has a Samsung phone, and he said something could have happened during the update to corrupt it, like your phone losing it's internet connection, etc..

I would contact Samsung customer service and see if they can provide a solution. You may have to do a hard reset and set your phone back to factory specs. I hope you have a way to save your contacts, etc., because they will be lost if you have to do a reset.

I don't know if there are different settings but my Android phones always show a notification when updates (whether for the system itself or for apps) are available. The update is triggered to begin by the user.

I've never noticed updates, and so if it is doing it (which I believe it does), than it does it without bothering me.

I turn my phone off at night and also when I am not using it or do not need it. I don't use my phone that much, and I hate having to reply to text messages. I've told people to send me emails instead, but sometimes they won't listen. I'm fine talking on the phone, and I really prefer that and have headsets for my phone - one in L.A. and one in Cathedral City, so that I don't have to transport them back and forth.
