You could go 100 different directions, from lots of color to minimal color. Besides looking at photos on Houzz, Pintrest offers a lot of ideas for rooms with grey walls and dark wood floors. We recently bought a small cottage in another town and just moved in phase one.It has light grey walls and medium dark wood floors. Grey/black/white counter tops. We wanted to see how things fit in before we add a coffee table, entertainment center, end tables, lamps, etc. It's not a very big place, just under 1600 sf and a second home for us. Sofa's are light beige linen and pillows are dark charcoal and patten is charcoal, chocolate and tan. Chairs are light beige linen and chocolate. Rug is natural fiber rug. Daytime now and boob light is still yellow cast. That will go eventually. Anyhow, entry rug is natural fiber, then dark table. Entertainment center we are considering white bookcases. You can just see the edge of the kitchen island to the right. The cabinets are white. Now enought light is coming in and we turned off the yellow entry light. Natural fiber rug between island and stove. That's all we have done so far. The two bedrooms upstairs have beds and linens and the bathroom is done. Our master is getting this wood on Tuesday (taking out the Puce color carpet). The bed is black. Will likely do some rug under is or runners. You can get any species of wood grey as long as you have someone who knows what they are doing and are willing to cough up the insane price tag. With red oak what you will have to do is sand it, put a clear coat sealer on it so the red tanins won't bleed out into the stain, and then they can top coat it with a spray on semi-opaque gel stain, and then finish with another coat of pre-cat clearcoat. Manufacturers and good refinishers have their mix that will not look pink over red oak. However, this is not a cheap process. 6000 sq/ft of sanding, clear coating, and top spraying gel stain + the top coat? The price will make your jaw hit the floor so hard it will go through it. It would probably be cheaper to just take the floor out and buy pre-finished hardwood in grey and have someone install it. This way you don't have to move out of the house either.

Dark Bronze. Somewhere between black and brown--dark bronze. The color of tree bark--but I am still open for suggestions as I am in the deconstruction stage. I am drawn to dark colored houses with dark trim. The only thing that has been determined are the Anderson windows with dark bronze trim.

If you found it at Globus (excellent company BTW) then you will purchase from Globus. The cork dealers keep their colour line-ups a little different. In your situation, you can use a floating floor to save some money...but the glue down tile (which is a Globus specialty) is the way to go. A properly installed glue down cork tile WILL COST the same amount as a STONE or HIGH-END tile installation. The TOTAL cost of the job will be equal. The 'issue' with cork is it is a STRONG yellow. Gold/brass is really it's natural colour. To get RID of those tones and create a gray, you MUST use a deeper gray. As soon as you go LIGHTER you go YELLOW. And I've seen it. It is DISTURBINGLY UGLY....like FUGLY type ugly. The COOL thing about cork, even with HEAVY STAINING is it LIGHTENS. Yes. That strong gold/brass turns BLONDE. As in Lady Gaga blonde! Marilyn Monroe blonde! Gwen Stefani blonde! Now imagine the deeper gray sitting on a very pale wood....it is LIGHTER. Globus is a company that is IMPRESSIVE. If I could afford Globus (I'm in Canada so I would go with Duro Design Cork = same type of product/line/colour options) I would go with Globus. A properly installed Globus cork floor = 150 years of service. Only STONE has that type of durability.
