Thanks, countryatheart. Funny enough, my installation is scheduled for today - time given was 10-2. I called a few granite installers today and no luck until I called Lowes. Spoke to someone and he said, yes they have it in their mill work department. I hightailed it to Lowes and spent the next 20+ minutes(the person I spoke to on the phone was on break) talking to several people - 3 who did not even have a clue. We walked all around that huge store looking at shelving bracket after shelving bracket. I gave the guys this look like... if this is supposed to support bracket, why is it displayed with wood shelves. Plus they were those flimsy looking decorated brackets. Finally, we found Stanley angle brackets. If I had my choice, I would have purchased Centerline brackets - but no time and no one had them locally.. And to think all this work for an item that cost less than $5. It makes we wonder about granite installers. I spoke to several and many said it was not needed even after I explained the width of the counter and the overhang. I went to several home stores and after showing pictures and explaining what was needed, most did not have it or pointed me to a tiny little bag of brackets - you know, the ones used for doors. AnnKH, 'bends but doesn't break', lol. Let's just say, it wasn't a break. More of a sever, that required reconstructive surgery. It was awful. Having said that, it's certainly the exception, but whenever I see people thinking about glass tops I do feel that it's worth a warning as a safety risk. While a table cloth may be more slippery it wouldn't be nearly as dangerous. Hopefully the OP finds a suitable solution. FWIW, we paid about $400 for 3 separate 3/4 inch thick pieces with beveled edges and rounded corners. They were made to cover a coffee table, sofa table and end table. We went to local glass company to have them made.

there are a lot of ways to mount a sink. the best is with "T-31" mounts. A shaped diamond tool is used to cut "T" slots into the underside of the granite. The sink is then literally bolted in place. you can stand in a sink mounted this way. there are also rail systems available which work OK. the one thing you don't want is a sink that is "glued" in place with the caulking agent between the sink and countertop. We get calls several times a year to repair an installation done by a schlock fabricator where the homeowners sink full of water and dishes fell into the cabinet. it's always a big mess!!

Well, I am not sure the keyboard drawers are compatible with my idea. I meant that the two skirts to the left and the right would be load bearing to support the granite. Let's consider the left skirt. On one end, it would be attached to the cabinet to its left. It would then run all the way to the wall, and be attached to the wall or to your ledger board. Then, consider the skirt on the right. It would be attached on one end to the cabinet, and on the other end it would be attached to the LEFT skirt in the middle of the span of the left skirt. The center skirt would attach at 45 deg. to both of them.
