Non Toxic Bathroom Floor Paint
Comments (9)Hi, Don't know if you've already decided on anything, but a couple of thoughts for you. Though you certainly could paint and a porch paint might be your best bet, there is something to consider. The cracks between the boards will not and should not be filled by the paint so water will be able to get in between the boards where they will not be sealed. This could conceivably, depending on the ventilation, create pockets of mold and/or rot that would give you big problems later. Nowadays, they are showing us more and more dangers from mold. I would imagine that would be a big concern as a new parent. Some of the earlier comments are very valid as I'm sure you know. No one mentioned the true curing time of latex paint - it really would be days before it should handle any real traffic and abuse. Hope this helps and congratulations! Comments (8)@blubird yes I think that's what happened. I believe they needed a shower on the main floor for the lady who was elderly and could no longer climb the stairs. @catbuilder i know it won't fix the leak--only ripping the whole thing apart will do that. we aren't going to use the shower until that happens which is several years down the road. Right now I am just trying to make it a nicer looking bathroom until that happens. I took off the shower frame and plan to use the space for a nice storage piece--the bathroom feels So much bigger and more pleasant without anything there. So no need for a shower curtain bc it will just make it feel small again. Just trying to figure out this flooring issue....See MoreBasement bathroom with toilet. Non-Submersible pump.
Comments (2)I think code will have more to say than what you'd like to do. With your terminology and ideas it sounds like you need to hire a plumber. You didn't specify, but the assumption is your tie-in elevation of the sanitary is necessitating that you need to pump up from the basement level to reach it. What you are (sort of) comparing is an ejector pit with effluent pump vs a macerating pump station. I'm not sure why you think one handles waste "less lousy" than the other. One pumps it out, one chops it up and pumps it out. The difference is that a macerating pump station and it's plumbing from fixtures is built on top of the floor. That is a deal killer for many. The other deal killer is whether a macerating pump can handle, or is allowed to pump in your AHJ, gray water from the laundry....See MoreHelen
