Design Dilemma Paint entry

need help with this foyer wall

What to do with this high wall in the foyer across from the front door? We haven’t chosen a color for the foyer. The paint is just primer. But this framed high wall is also presenting design questions.

Flo, I wanted to show you what I ended up doing with lighting fixtures. These are E.F.Chapman Flemish sconces and a foyer fixture that I found at Ballard Designs. The sconces came with shades, but my DH has a thing about shades and I in this application, I think he may be right. But, don't tell him:) This is the dining room fixture that I also found at Ballard Designs. It is a twisted wire style and the foyer fixture has some twisted metal, too. Here is a view of the dining room fixture from the foyer. The lighting is difficult. I tried to balance my more formal style with the rustic plantation plain style of the house. I followed your suggestion and used the dipped candle style bulbs. I really like them. Thank you for your help for talking me off the ledge. I'm getting geared up for the interior painters next week. I've declared war on the green. It's all going to be warm white. Thanks, again.

Need just the RIGHT size - help with foyer furniture, please!?

Do you have a coat closet ? If not I would look for small armoire for that space where the art is . As for a console table I think I might do a shelf with a drawer instead of a console table since you do not really have much space there Hang a piece of art above it to fit between the switches.

I moved the light colored console back to under the mirror, along with the lamps that are usually on it. By the way, Flo, if I ever do decide to paint that console, what color did you have in mind? I have a couple of pieces of art that I wondered might work in the foyer. I can imagine the brass and glass shelves by the blue chair!

you need a fabulous pendant light for the foyer. That's it. do not put anything inside the framed molding

If you're doing iron doors, then maybe you'd like to do some type of iron pendant light.

If you have the room, do a nice rug and a small entry table

For over the door, could you do a larger window?

This would be perfect. I photoshopped this picture onto your photo.

here they have a clock, but I suppose you could also do art. just depends on the final look

First, the new door, then a new light, then decorate below the door frame, where the people live. That may be all you have to do. Photo all of that for us if you still want to add something above your head.
