HELP - Kitchen Spray Faucets

Three questions:

1. We want a faucet with a powerful pulldown sprayer. Does the size of the sprayer head on a faucet correlated with the power of the stream? I would prefer something moderate in size but does a thinner less bulky faucet mean a weaker spray? Or is it all about the GPM, or something else?

Our apartment came with a sleek Franke but the pressure is very low. I thought it was the building's water pressure, but, during our rennotation we're using a Glacier Bay laundry sink with sprayer as a temporary kitchen sink and the spray on that is powerful.

So, for example will the fatter head on something like this Hansgrohe give more blast than the slender head on this Moen?

2. Our hardware and lights will be antique brass. Some of these faucets look more gold. In a small space will these off finishes look too mismatched? Are we better just opting for a silver color and being obvious about the mismatch

3. Any thoughts on brand? We can spend between $300 - $1,500. It is a wide range and we care way more about solid metal parts and quality than we do about name brand or price.

Just make sure you have a deep sink if you want a powerful sprayer.

Gotcha thanks. Any idea how deep to go? We are planning to reuse the sink that was previously in this kitchen. I'll measure it tomorrow.

There was a Delta pull-out in our house when we bought it. It functioned fine but I disliked the awkwardness of using it. Something about the way you had to hold it to use it in certain situations bothered me. The handle was just clumsy feeling sometimes. If I wanted to turn the head or clean the sink and turn my hand, the handle got in the way of the hose, etc. When we renovated we replaced it with a Kohler Vinnata pull-down. I much prefer the pull-down. It's just a natural, more ergonomically correct way of using a faucet in my opinion. I like that you grip the whole head of the faucet with your whole hand and that's it...no handle to fiddle with also. And no, if the faucet is made correctly, they don't dangle. We've had ours for six years now. It retracts perfectly, doesn't tangle and always goes back in just fine. What Frankoma states above about a pullout, stands for a pull-down also. I can fill my coffeepot or my stockpot on the counter with my pull-down just fine. It doesn't just pull DOWN, you pull it down and out too. :)

davidro1, I'm getting a Blanco Precis super single. zelmar, the sprayer may be better for scooting the scraps toward the drain but the Eve does have a pull down head and should be able to do that too. It may/may not be as effective but it should get the job done. cherryblossom99, I can't truly try living without my sprayer now because I don't have a pull-down or pull-out faucet that would partially replace its function. That said, I don't use the sprayer a LOT. I went back and looked at the KWC faucets again today. The Eve was still gorgeous. One thing I noticed is that the KWC faucets are the only ones I've seen where the lever goes forward for hot and back for cold. The importance of this is when mounting with the lever facing forward as I want to do the red/blue markings are actually in the correct orientation. I like that. It also just makes sense to me when I'm trying to visualize which direction to move the lever when it's mounted on the side. The Systema isn't as pretty but looks like a real workhorse. With the aforementioned "forward for hot" lever I can see where the lever would probably be forward and over the sink 90% of the time giving some of the utlility of a forward facing lever. I did like the heft of the spray head and the way it docked too. Sorry, getting off topic there.

I love my Kohler artifacts faucet. The linear spray is wonderfully powerful, and, at least on my model, has to be manually turned on- it would be difficult to accidentally turn it on, and cannot be left on that setting. You are thinking of the Kohler Artifacts kitchen faucet. It has a regular spray, berry spray, and sweep spray. I am not a fan of the touchless faucets because I keep seeing reports of them being finicky. You can look at reviews of the same exact faucet, but one is touchless and the other isn't, and the reviews of the touchless one will talk about all the problems, while the regular one will be fine.

A nine inch deep sink is about perfect.

What are you spraying.......or are you hosing down the concrete sidewalk? : ) You might show your lights and hardware so someone can offer a suggestion , given so much breadth in faucet styling.

Not every spec of hardware need match. What are you appliances and sink?

Faucets, in a number of states, are required to have a flow limiter or restrictor. Most european faucets have flow restrictors. For lots of faucets, you can just take it out. Some makers, like Franke, have alternate flow restrictors that allow for more flow.

I took the flow restricter out of my kid's Delta shower head...some youtube, a few tools and we have amazingly powerful water!

Here are pics of the kitchen as we await the cabinets.

- New subzero and the dishwasher w panel fronts to match the cabinets.

- Walls, ceiling, trim trim, and cabinets will all be same color, likely a color similar to what is in the walls now though a bit richer. (Farrow and Ball new white. Awaiting sample from cabinet maker.)

- Uppers and lowers on both walls. Marble counter on appliance side, butcher block on other side.

- Need to select hardware - 22 knobs, appliance pulls, and pocket door pulls. Want to match them to lights - antique brass. Pocket door pulls will be different company so different finish from the rest. Dont known if knobs and appliance pulls will match exactly either. Too mismatched if we have 5 different antique brass finishes in here?

Thanks for the scoop on aerator removal. Jan, sometimes blasting roasting pans feels like blasting concrete, hard to do with a trickle. The moen in our last house did a great job.

By the way, pics of adjoining rooms, all have some kind of brass. Want to keep brass them in kitchen. Maybe having a silver colored faucet and soap pump would give the eye a rest from all the brass?
