can you use a drop in sink with a quartz countertop?

I have found a drop in sink for my kitchen that i am in love with; however, i am also wanting to update the countertops with quartz. I have searched and searched for an undermount sink with the same accessories such as a insert wash basin and a stainless steel colander with a cutting board but can't find an undermount

Undermount the drop in. I do it all the time. Post a link to the sink please.

Why would you? And be sure the old cabinets are worth something other than laminate tops replacement.

terry, do you mean LG Hi-Macs? Lomac is a drug. Hi-Macs is certainly comparable to Corian at a better price but it sure doesn't have more colors than Corian. Anyway, I'm sorry I can't help you with your sink concerns as I don't have a solid-surface counter. You may want to try searching "integrated sinks". One thing I know about SS sinks is that you need to run the hot water from the faucet before you pour hot liquids into the sink (like draining pasta) because the temperature shock can cause the sink to crack. I think butcher block on the island with quartz on perimeter will look and function better. If you use waterlox for it, you cannot cut on it. But it will give it a nice protective furniture finish. If you want to cut on it you need to use mineral oil, which is less permanent but repairable. If you cut on it, you will see marks on it, but you can sand it and re-oil over time. You can also use an oil based finish for the more natural look but not cut on it. That what I would do. If you search here you will see discussions of waterlox versus oil versus other products like osmo for wood island tops. Breezygirl highly recommends an osmo product that I am going to use on my wood island counter once it's installed.

I have Cambria Torquay and use Clorox wipes on them all the time. I use them to wipe down my counters, then follow it up with Method granite polish from Target (LOVE that stuff!) There is absolutely no streaking, haze, residue, discoloration, etc. I frequently put hot items straight onto the countertop, but try to use a trivet or pot holder most of the time. I'm not super worried about it, but I figure it doesn't hurt to use a little extra caution. I was given the option of having the sink cut-out finished into a cutting board, so I used that for a long time as a tester of sorts. It has held up to all stains and temperatures I've subjected it to. I was advised by the installer to use a it of straight acetone for any stains that couldn't be removed with regular cleaner or by scraping with a razor blade. That was four years ago, and I have yet to find anything that didn't wipe right off. And that's saying something, because I have young children. I absolutely love my quartz counters and would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I love my cast iron drop in sink too. However, with new counters going in, I took the opportunity to get a new cast iron Kohler Whitehaven farmhouse sink - which can be installed on standard cabinetry. The old sink is going to be used in my basement kitchenette I am working on. A new sink might be too pricy and since cast iron last for decades, no problem reusing your sink. Something is wrong with your search. There are a ton of "workstation sinks" that are undermounted and have accessories of stainless steel colander, etc. There are posts about these on this forum every day. Or, just get a regular undermount sink, and a regular colander on Amazon for $20 and a good-sized cutting board that will sit on the counter and give you a proper cutting surface rather than a narrow thin cutting board perched on a sink.

I think the above comment to explore laminate instead of Quartz is a good one.

I apologize that i was not very clear. i am finding work station sinks with colanders and cutting boards but i am also wanting a drop n wash basin and that is the issue i am not finding that feature with an undermount

You have to go to a bigger size than 32" for all that you want.

You are foregoing an undermount sink just to have a drop in wash basin. Not an even trade at all.
