I never like a closet that is only accessed through a bathroom but I need to know your budget for sure I think you could easily make the closet access from the bedroom by closing off the door from the bathroom and reworking the layout of the closet with a nice barn door from the bedroom Is that a free standing tub you are trying to fit into the bathroom ? The wall needs to be built where you have the open bathroom vanity area IMO a reach in wall of closets is a much nicer idea than a too small walk in so on that point I like layout #2 An actul nice long vanity much better than pedestal sinks for sure and a shower no tub on that bottom wall in #2 I see nothing wrong with seeing the bed from the hallway and just amke sure the foot of the bed does not line up with the doorway (bad feng shui) If you post the original \floor plan you might get a lot more ideas too.

Thoughts:

- I don't see a problem with seeing the bed from the hallway, but I agree that seeing it from the side is not an attractive view.

- I like the closets moved to the left. The indentation on the left gives you a perfect opportunity for a large closet.

- I think you currently have sliders to the balcony/deck? I'd keep them rather than French doors, especially French doors opening outward. The door swing would inhibit your furniture placement outside.

- Consider this layout: It gives you a good, large bathroom behind the head of the bed, and your traffic patterns work well. You would need to use small nightstands; as such, a lamp on the wall would work well /conserve space on the nightstand.

- I switched the two pedestal sinks to one vanity sink, which would give you storage at the sink ... note that you had NO storage in the bathrooom at all.

- You don't plan to have a shower? Or you're thinking of a shower over a stand-alone tub?

- This tub looks huge, and the bed seems to be too narrow ... but I copied your sizes in making this mock-up.

I far prefer the 2nd one. I would do a large vanity instead of two pedestals like Patricia mentioned though. In the first one I don't like having toliet by bedroom wall and everything seems crowded together on one side with a big empty space on the other to allow access to closet. You say you don't like the shape of the bath in 2nd one, but sink-toliet-tub/shower is very common plus will be easier to access everything in th reach in closet.

Thank you for the feedback. Good to have outside perspective on something we’ve been staring at for months.

I probably should have mentioned that I used a free software for the layout so I was limited in the options for visuals. 😅

The ‘tub’ would be a standing shower, no tub. We have a guest bathroom with tub.

The sinks would be a double vanity, only had pedestal options in the program.

The exterior doors would stay as sliders.

We have a king bed so budgeting 10’ for bed + nightstand.

We are leaning heavily towards the 2nd option which I think gives more pros than cons.

I am wondering if you are incurring a lot of extra expense moving the plumbing when the 2nd setup is really a mirror image of your current bathroom setup.
