Kohler Whitehaven with a hairline crack - buy fast, or steer clear?
Comments (8)Yes, I know what the Whitehaven is. I still say that sink is overpriced at $250. That's a rather significant flaw. And there is a very narrow market for an apron front sink. And even less of one for a damaged sink. Almost has to be someone who is doing a big remodel, not a willy-nilly 'I'd like to have a new sink' buyer. And even fewer potential buyers who are doing a big remodel and who are willing to accept an imperfect new sink 'Kohler Whitehaven' has a certain cachet around these forums. .Not so much in the real world/ average homeowner who only wants new, shiny, pretty & knows squat about brands. I think it likely, as you said, that the seller got a warranty replacement from Kohler and now they are left with a flawed sink/ 130# disposal problem....See MoreHas anyone replaced a Kohler Whitehaven with completely different sink
Comments (5)Our plumber said that the single basin Whitehaven will not work because of the location of the drain hole I'm calling BS on this. Hire a different plumber. I recently replaced an old Kohler 60/40 double basin sink with a single basin right side corner drain stainless steel sink. Love the single basin and corner drain. IMO, at some point in the future, you will look back on the exploding sink as a happy accident. Double basins are a relic from the before dishwashers past....See MoreKohler Whitehaven install/ support question
Comments (4)I'm not crazy about Kohler's instructions for mounting their heavy sinks. Wood blocking can shrink and when it does, it breaks the silicone bond between the sink flange and the bottom of the top; leaks ensue. Unsanitary and terrific bug habitat. I highly recommend a Pete's Sink Mount Kit. It isn't cheap at $300.00, but it is stainless steel which doesn't shrink and remains adjustable. The Pesimoki allows the sink to be raised into the perfect position after the top is installed and the flange siliconed....See MoreKohler Whitehaven Sloped Front
Comments (6)"Would you suggest fireclay instead?" No. A chip in cast iron means a lifetime of white-out. A chip in fireclay is death. The basiin rack is an excellent idea. Interesting picture; an undermount sink displayed in a plastic laminate countertop. Take a look at the Elkay Quartz Luxe please. Unlike cast iron and fireclay, the color goes all the way through and it is somewhat repairable....See MoreDesign Girl
