It's confirmed then. The heat was the culprit! Do these affect the whole plant or will other flowers be normal? I don't want sterile miniatures but it has a certain charm to it with the contrast between the green and the soft pink petals though.

Nina, We don't know what difference going dormant, then coming back to growth will do to possible bloom chance. But it's not a claim we get 1st year bloom by starting seeds indoors...it is a fact we do! Very few have bloomed at 9 months, a good number bloomed come 10 months and at eleven+ months hit the aprrox. 65-70%. Our experience from 3 years of experimentation with this is: Plants up and growing in mid January provided us with about 20% bloom with a few starting mid Sept. Ones up and growing early December start blooming the end of August. with a few of them and about 65-70% will bloom before frost gets them (usually the end of October to beginning of Nov.) This year we got most seeds greened up and growing at the end of November to mid Dec. The flowers look OK, I would advice to remove them if plants are new to establish roots. I know you want to try the berries, but it plant is weak it hurts the plant, and the berries will not be that good until the plant is established. So if you do leave them, remember they will taste better when plant is establised. Often berries need to hang to get sweet, so even if they look ripe, they may not be. Your foliage looks thin, and yes when cold leaves turn red. They also turn red when you have a high PH, but what you did is perfect, so it must be the cold.
